Dear Family,

My name is Christian. I am a 22 year-old (male) Colombian student. I live in

Tunja, Boyac, where I am two semesters short of completing my
undergraduate studies in modern languages at the Pedagogical and
Technological University of Colombia also I finished another studies in civil
engineer last year at the Military University in Bogot, Colombia.

I come from a family of 3: My Mother, Maria Barreto, Is auxiliary assistant at

the Government of Boyac, the State of Tunja. I have 2 sisters. My eldest sister
Tatiana, is 32 years old and is a public administrator in Tunja. My youngest
sister Liliana, is 27 years old, she is business administrator in a mining
company.
In about two or three years I plan to pursue a masters degree in pedagogical
skills and structures of steel, but I am yet to make up my mind concerning my
future area of specialization. So, at the moment, I would like to take some time
out of academics to have a different life experience, and to have time to calmly
reflect on my future academic/professional orientation. To this end, I think
spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting.
My first language is, of course, Spanish, and I am also fluent in English. I
started learning English in primary school, and it was also the language of
instruction in the secondary school I attended. I have in addition been taking
courses taught in English at university in my career of Modern Languages.

I speak a basic level of French. I began learning it in the university and have
been taking French language classes at my university for the last four years.
I am nevertheless aware that learning a language within a classroom context is
by itself, incomplete. So, in order to really be at ease in Spanish, I feel that a
cultural immersion would do me a lot of good. Through my language teachers,
(most of whom are Americans) I have learnt a lot about USA, the English and
life in USA. Hence my desire to have first-hand experience of American life. I
am particularly interested in experiencing family life in USA, since it offers a
cultural context that is undoubtedly different from mine. For this reason, I
would very much like to find a nice family to live with and work for in USA.
When it comes to the Experience Child Care, Child Care in formal and informal
settings. Last year, as part of my studies because this is a bachelor. I spent four
years working on a musical show that each Christmas was done taking care of
children, singing and teaching them things about music and Christmas. Among
others, work period in a museum called "home Juan de Vargas" as a tour guide
where tourists from different Latin American countries, also Americans and
French. This experience gave me my foreign language improves. I've been in
different schools in my city singing and teaching the English language to
children aged between 5 and 12 years. They also arrange for indoor and outdoor
recreational activities: We sang, danced, played games, role played, drew,
painted, and narrated Stories. We also visited the public library, the park, and a
camping trip and picnic.

When it comes to leisure, I have the pleasure of simple things in life around
music. I like being outdoors, being with my friends, going for walks, places I
have not been to visit, and reading a good book. I love music on gray days and
rain, in the happy and sunny days. Often I intend to sing and compose for
children, since childhood I liked the music, when I was 5 years old I started
playing drums, then I went to a school of music and learned to play piano,
guitar, bass and saxophone, music is everything to me and I'm sure that music
and education go hand in hand, which is very important for teaching children. I
love to read and write, I am part of a radio program in my university where I
have to write radio scripts about music in relation to literature.
I have passion for teaching and to care. I have passion for everything I intend to
do. I love care children, I like teaching my culture, music, songs and Spanish
my first language. Because I am gifted with children and I am sure that all my
knowledge and skills with music and teaching I will be one of the best au pair. I
am a man of God committed to the children who will be the future of the planet,
I am a man committed to everything I set out to do.
As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with
a host family, that would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for
at least 6 months. I would also prefer looking after children aged between 10
month to 10 or 12 years. Lastly, although I am quite flexible, I would prefer to
have working hours that would allow me to attend day time English or other
language classes. I like to accomplish my English language, improve my
language for my studies and as an au pair is the best way to improve and learn
because in the children are the history of the learning. I like to accomplish to
know a new culture, improve my care with the children, my music and all my
knowledge.
I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever
questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences; to learn more
about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from
the au pair arrangement.
Thank you very much for your interest in my application! I look forward to
hearing from you.

Yours affably,
Christian Guo.
