O ak Canyon Nature Center is a 58-acre natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills.
A year-round stream meanders through the park. Consisting of three adjoining
canyons, four miles of hiking trails traverse one of the few remaining areas of oak
woodland and coastal sage scrub in our region. Native wildlife makes the canyon
their home and is just waiting to be discovered. Also located on site is the John J.
Collier Interpretive Center, a small museum with live animal and regional natural history
exhibits. The Nature Center is the perfect place for you to learn about the wonders
of the natural world in a tranquil setting. The trails are ideal for those who are just
stepping into the wilderness for the first time or for those more experienced trekkers
who are seeking a short hike.

Anaheims Bookmobile Celebrates 60 Years of Service

The first Bookmobile was purchased for the Library System in 1958,
through the efforts of Miss Elva Haskett, the librarys first Childrens
Librarian. The first day of service was on Valentines Day that year, and
staff checked out 73 books.
Over the years, several different vehicles
have taken to the road, supporting learning
1958 and literacy needs in our high-density,
low-income neighborhoods with limited access to our
traditional library facilities. Currently the Bookmobile
1970
serves five elementary schools and 13
neighborhoods, circulating almost
80,000 items a year.

1994
On February 14 our APL Bookmobile will be celebrating
60 years of service, and we look forward to many more
years of bringing library services out to the community.
