Hand in on the 12th of December. You need to pass the exam
to get the PEC in your global grade. If you dont pass, your
PEC mark will be saved bll September.
EXAM (25th Jan., 16h / 8th Feb., 9h). 2parts:
A) Choose 2 out of 3 topics. 2,5 points each quesbon. 1
page per quesbon. Total: 5 points.
B) Choose 1 out of 2 texts. 2 pages. Total: 3 points.

INSTRUCCIONES: Comente uno de los seis textos histricos incluidos en el listado, siguiendo las pautas
que encontrar en la Gua de Estudio y en los documentos que a tal efecto se encuentran en el File
storage del curso virtual. Atngase tambin a las siguientes indicaciones:

EXTENSIN: Entre 2 y 5 pginas, sin contar portada ni fuentes consultadas
IDIOMA: Ingls

La tarea se entregar a travs de la plataforma aLF. La correccin, calicacin y revisin de las PECs corre
a cargo del profesorado tutor, quienes evaluarn las pruebas de 0 a 2 puntos (nota que consbtuira el 20%
de la calicacin nal del semestre). Si ubliza fuentes bibliogrcas para realizar la tarea, puede consultar

ENFOQUE CULTURAL
-MOTIVACIN y CAUSA del texto atendiendo a la coyuntura histrica, pero tambin
exponiendo las idiosincrasias del autor y del desbnatario en el marco de la poca.
-PROPSITO explcito e implcito del documento (sera en parte deducido de la premisa
anterior)
-SIGNIFICACIN del documento en el mbito histrico para el devenir de los coetneos;
rabcacin o transformacin de la vida y las costumbres de los implicados tras la publicacin
del documento.
-PROYECCIN. Inuencia y valoracin del documento extrapolado a otros mbitos tanto en la
poca como en la posterioridad.
-CONSECUENCIA. Hechos sucedidos con posterioridad derivados directa o indirectamente de
la difusin del documento.

Read the text carefully and try to understand
it completely.
Use dicbonaries, History books, Wikipedia
Underline key expressions.
 CLASSIFY THE TEXT
TYPE:
Legal text (law, treaty)
Arbcle in a newspaper
Polibcal (speech)
Literary (leqer, memoirs)
 CONTEXT
When and where was the text wriqen or
uqered?
Whats its historical background?
What are the polibcal, ideoligical, social,
economical and cultural inuences on the
text?
 AUTHOR
Menbon the author/s (if known)
Give relevant informabon about the author of
the text: personality, ideology, social or
cultural background

 RECEPTION OF THE TEXT
Who is the text addressed to? A nabon,
several countries, a part of the society, the
general public opinion?
 TEXT ANALYSIS
Most important part of the comment.
Summarize the content of the text. Indicate
the central ideas and others.
Explain the text: explicit and implicit aspects
of it.
 METHODS OF ANALYSIS
Lineal method: analyse the paragraphs in the
text orderly. Idenbfy and explain the main
ideas in each one of them. Clarify dierent
aspects (names of people or places, words in
other languages,)
Logical method: extract the basic ideas in the
text. To analyse every idea make reference to
the dierent parts of the text regardless of the
order in which they appear.
 CONCLUSION
Most complex part of the comment.
Interest of the text in itself. What is its
contribubon to the general knowledge that
we have of the period or the people involved?
Future consequences of the text. What impact
did it have?
 PERSONAL OPINION
General impression of the text.
Evaluatethe ideas in the text and give your
opinion.
In case, there is a controversy relabng the
text, indicate your posibon and explain why
you are for or against.
 BIBLIOGRAPHY
Cite all the sources of informabon you have
used: books, websites, arbcles, essays
Use the Harvard cibng and referencing style.
