What is the adipose stem cell?

The adipose stem cell is an adult stem cell abundant in adipose tissue and contains the ability to develop into various cells composing the human body such as fat, bone tissue, cartilage, muscle and nerves or to reproduce by itself

when exposed to the proper environment.

In addition, it has additional functions including angiogenesis, anti-inflammation and anti-oxidation by secreting growth factors beneficial to the human body. Especially, the adipose stem cell can be collected easier and there are at

least 100~1000 times more stems than other adult stem cells.
What is stem cell fat transplantation?

Stem cell fat transplantation is a surgical procedure whereby stem cells are extracted from fatty tissue deposits in the abdomen, thigh or flank and then injected into a region needing a bit more volume by mixing it with pure fat in the

targeted area.

Stem cell fat transplantation can greatly enhance the transplantation effect due to better grafting and cellular survival than traditional simple fat transplantation. The application range of this procedure is being expanded to help

ameliorate wrinkles, regenerate skin and heal wounds by transplanting only adipose stem cells into the skin dermal layer.

General fat transplantation vs. Stem cell fat transplantation

Liposuction is typically used to correct the contour of a persons body by removing subcutaneous fat accumulated abnormally or unsatisfactorily by using negative pressure or ultrasonic waves.

1. Increased survival rate

In general, the transplanted fat decreases over time because the microvascular network surrounding the fat is removed during liposuction. However, if the fat is transplanted with stem cells, the combination induces regeneration of the

microvascular network, so reduction is inhibited and the survival rate is increased.

2. Prevention of calcification

It is possible to prevent calcification through stem cell fat transplantation. As the transplanted adipose cells contain a lot of oil, this oil is secreted from fat extinction by external conditions and brings immune cells to progress

calcification. The stem cells can prevent calcification by inhibiting excessive immune response and inducing faster engraftment.

3. Natural effect

As the existing fat transplantation procedure involves injecting a large amount of fat, pressure is inadvertently raised between tissues, accelerating fat loss and causing transient skin to droop and present an unnatural contour. However,

stem cell adipose transplantation can result in a more natural effect with even a small amount of fat.

Regions suitable for extraction and transplantation

The stems cells are safely extracted from the abdomen or thigh after anesthesia.
