Section C: Assessment based on Interview of Applicant
Applicant was interviewed towards determining his/her academic standard, compared to that of a graduate from an approved course in
engineering for the purposes of Section 13.2.b(ii) of the Act. We have found Applicants performance in specific areas to be as follows:
1A. Applicants Knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Principles; and
1B. Applicants ability to apply that knowledge to optimise existing and emerging technologies in their own area of practice:
Note *4: Include 1A1 and 1A2 in assessment if performance at B4 and B5 is other. Applicant must demonstrate being comfortable with
his/her theoretical knowledge, and of its application in the chosen field of engineering.

An applicant with a majority of U will need to re-apply.
Note *5: Expertise is not an absolute requirement. Applicant should demonstrate sufficient theoretical knowledge to discuss relevant issues
and attempt tasks.

and performance), i.e. producing a viable design within the scope of a design brief.

4A Applicant to demonstrate that he/she has knowledge of the impact of engineering design on quality of environment, health and
safety, and quality of life, and,
4B Applicant is able to recognise and assess risks to quality of life, and, consequently, to design and implement measures and
safeguards to enhance quality of environment and life, and ensure sustainability.

Note *10: Applicant must demonstrate his/her awareness of environmental and sustainability related issues.
5A Applicant to have awareness of need for developing and enhancing his/her ability to interact with individuals and groups, including
peers, subordinates, clients, administrators, policy makers and the public:
5A1 Applicant demonstrates a good command of Language and writing skills; is knowledgeable of techniques, skills,
and modern engineering tools, (Auto-Cad or similar package, Spreadsheets, Word processing, graphics and
communication), etc., for improving productivity and efficiency.
5A2 Applicant should be aware of Management information systems and intellectual property rights issues.
5A3 Applicant should display Leadership skills and ability to handle meetings; etc.
Note *11: Applicant may not be penalised at this stage, but should be told that these issues will carry greater weight at Stage 2 of
Registration.

C.6. Recognition of Need for Broad Education, Recognition of Limits of Professional Competence, Values and Ethics in Professional
Practice, and Commitment to Life-Long learning.
6.1 has had a broad education in engineering and allied fields, as may be necessary, for optimum performance in
the course of his/her professional practice, and that he/she has ability to recognise limits of personal
knowledge and skills, while exercising independent judgement;
6.2 demonstrates a commitment to a high ethical standard, sense of values, and responsibility in professional
practice;
6.3 has a commitment and ability to engage in a process of life long learning;
6.4 has a knowledge of contemporary issues.
1 has successfully demonstrated that he/she has the knowledge, understanding and ability in
engineering expected of a graduate in engineering from an approved programme of studies for
eventual registration under Section 13.2.b(ii) of the Act.
2 has failed to demonstrate that he/she has the knowledge, understanding and ability in
engineering expected of a graduate in engineering from an approved programme of studies in
engineering.

equivalent]
Testing a hypothesis accounting for a departure from expected performance (viz 2C1):
2C2 - defining tasks to be carried out; scientific and engineering principles involved;
identifying parameters likely to influence the value/outcome of the experiment
Conducting an experiment (as in 2C2) - recording and evaluating and presenting data;
