Inquiry Idea
1. | Collaborative — | Oct 28", 2017 | Hello,
Inquiry Design for
a class of 4-year-
old students
| am considering about how to design and
apply a collaborative inquiry for my children,
who are 4 years old. My lesson is focus on
teaching them how they can distinguish even
and odd numbers. Initially, my plan is
developed as below.
4. | will randomly form groups of children
based on colors. Every child counts as yellow
will be in yellow group, every child counts as
green will be in green group, and so on.
2. lassign each group a number of apples.
3. | require them to find how many couples of
apples that their group have and ask them
how they will do with the remaining apple that,
is not in any couples. How do they feel when
their groups have all couples and when their
groups have apples that are not in any
couples?
4. They will answer all of my questions.5. | explain to them that if any number of
apples that | give their group can make all
couples, it is even number. Otherwise, it is
odd number.
| hope that through this collaborative inquiry
project, they can understand well even and
odd numbers.
Do you have any comments for me?
Thanks a lot!
Collaborative
Inquiry Design for
uncommunicative
students,
Oct 29%, 2017
Hello,
‘Among my classes, there is a special one,
which comprises of many uncommunicative
students. | tried to raise their motivation in
learning by different ways like playing to
leaming, watching videos and then
discussing on topics mentioned in the video,
roles play, etc, However, they just felt
motivated in 15 - 20 first minutes. Then, they
demotivated and the achievement gap was
still not as my expectation.
How can I change my teaching methods?
How can | apply the collaborative inquiry
learning approach to conduct my lessons. For
example, I will keep them away from the class
and go to the park of the school to have
spaces for them to interact with others and
develop their communication skills?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions
and comments!

Inquiry

Hello,
I am planning to apply the collaborative
inquiry in my class of grade 3", The learning
objective is to equip my students knowledge
on balanced-nutrient meals.
My initial plan is in details as below:
1. | divide my students in groups of 3-5
people based on a game.2 1 will show a video mentioning about
negative consequences of unbalanced —
nutrient meals and some statistics on
obesity as well malnutrition of students at
their age.
3. | ask them to work in group setting to
figure out problems and solutions for
problems mentioned in the video
assuming that they are experts of Health
Organization (to motivate them since they
will be proud of being experts rather than
students). They can access _into
computers with internet connection to find
data.
4. My students will work in group setting and
present their results by different formats —
role play, presentation, drawing pictures,
etc.
I would love to get your comments in order for
me to have the best design for my class.
Thanks a lot.
To foster a
culture of
collaborative
learning/inquiry in
class
Oct 30%, 2017
Hello,
Although Collaborative Inquiry is helpful for
students to learn new things and develop
their skills, it is not easy to foster this culture
in classes because of several reasons. It
takes time, efforts, and resources of teachers
to design lessons based on collaborative
inquiry projects. While many students are
active, others are inactive. Therefore, in
‘groups, works may be implemented by some
students, not all students comprising such
groups. In many cases, teachers may not feel
safe to organize classes using collaborative
inquiry approach. Do you have any
experiences in fostering the culture of
collaborative inquiry in classes? | would love
to hear from you!
Thank you!
