Cognitive learning theory is one of the broad theories that explain thinking and differing
mental processes and how they are influenced by internal and external factors in order to
produce learning in individuals. When cognitive processes are working normally the

Significance of the theory

According to(Woolfolk, 1998) believe that learning is an active mental process to gain, store,
memorise and apply knowledge.Similary , Slavin (1997) states that learning is an active mind
process focusing on important information, ignoring unimportant information and using
present information to make choice. The Piagets theory focus on development and learning
theories . Development focus on the leaners capabilities and the learning focus on the
realization of such capabilities and the education within the theory is extrinsic. The cognitive
theory , the behaviour reflects the emergence of various psychological structures, organized
units or patterns of thinking that influence on how children interpret the information.
