RWS Neighborhood Watch Groups Forming
Last month, Redwood City Police hosted a Neighborhood
Watch Meeting for interested Shores residents. RCPD notes
that we have very low crime rates in our community, but also
recognizes that some safety issues are unique to the Shores, and
that our community is eager to help deter crime. For more
information about how the neighborhood watch program will
develop, please see page 4.

October Recap
As mentioned on the cover, the Redwood City Police and
Community Outreach Departments recently met with residents
about forming Neighborhood Watch Groups in Redwood
Shores. e plan is to set up groups in four geographic regions
(North, East, South and West) as pictured below.

RSCAs New Median Signs were finally set up in October! After
much logistical planning and funding initiatives, the electronic
signs have been installed on both Redwood Shores Parkway and
Marine Parkway. Many thanks to Silicon Valley Clean Water for
their generous grant, and to Redwood City for the collaboration
on electricity. e signs are still in test mode as we adapt the
technology to suit our community eorts. e lights are ecient
LED with low environmental impact. e signs will carry info
about local events and services available in our community. In an
emergency, the signs will be able to display pertinent alert updates.
RSCA is always pleased to host our annual halloween parade
in Marlin Park in October. Its so fun to see the variety, and the
trends, in Halloween costumes that children wear to collect treats
and visit with the Good Witch. See photos at RSCA.org.

As decorations appear in December, RSCA invites residents to
liGht up the ShOReS! Dress up your home and yard with
lights, snowmen, reindeer and ornaments and win prizes!
Winning homes will be featured in e pilOt and RSCA.org.
To submit your holiday decorations for consideration and
publication in e pilOt, simply take a photo of your home,
apartment, condominium or townhouse, and submit it to our
Board of Directors for their ocial judging process.
Additional details about the contest will be published next
month. Photos must be submitted no later than 7pm on
Monday, December 18th for our elves to judge all applicants!

FROM THE M AYOR
It is hard to believe that it has been almost two years since I,
as the newly appointed Mayor of Redwood City, started
writing this column in e PILOT. roughout my term as
Mayor, I have talked about Redwood Citys greatest asset
our people. And this month, for my last column in e
PILOT, I want to take the opportunity to say THANK YOu to
...My family. My wife Donna, and my girls, Jessi, Heather
and Megan, and my wifes children, Tom, Kristen and Teddy,
have all taken a side seat to my busy schedule as Mayor. I
couldnt serve in public oce without the love and support
of my family and I am deeply grateful for all of them.
...My colleagues on the City Council. In December 2015,
my colleagues gave me the honor of being chosen as their
Mayor and I have felt nothing but the highest respect and
support throughout my term. Each one of them has
brought their unique giftedness and strengths to their
service, and each of them has given selflessly to serve this
community in the best way they know how. Specifically, I
want to thank Vice Mayor Ian Bain. His strengths, wisdom,
and friendship never waivered and provided me invaluable
insight as I led as Mayor.
...e sta in Redwood City. It is easy to take credit when
things go well in Redwood City, but it is the hard work of
our dedicated sta, across all departments in Redwood City,
that truly make this City shine. Our City Manager, Melissa
Stevenson Diaz; the City Attorneys I have served with,
Pamela ompson and now, Veronica Ramirez; and the City
Clerks, Sylvia Vonderlinden and now, Pamela Aguilar have
played a special role in supporting me as Mayor.
...e residents of Redwood City. People truly are Redwood
Citys greatest asset and the residents I had the opportunity
to meet as Mayor are simply amazing. e stories of their
lives, creativity of their ideas, and the passion and
commitment they have to a better quality of life for their
fellow residents and our community is incredible. I want
to say a special thank you to those I met who, without any
recognition, serve the needy in our community; whether in
homeless outreach or bringing meals to shut-in seniors, you
are truly heroes.
In the last two years, together, we have
accomplished many great things and
our community continues to thrive.

Redwood Citys Police Chief J.R. Gamez recently announced
his retirement scheduled for December 2017 due to an
existing medical condition. e recruitment process began

planning a series of community outreach opportunities. One
event will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:30pm
at the Redwood Shores library.

reputation for outstanding community engagement, and the
police chief position is a critical leadership role for our
community, said Melissa Stevenson Diaz, city manager of
the City of Redwood City. rough community meetings,
an online survey, and feedback at community events, we
would like to hear from community members about the
qualities they believe are needed in the next police chief.
Community input will help to identify the attributes and
experience needed in the next police chief and will inform
the recruitment and selection process. It is anticipated that
the city manager will select the new police chief in early

Whether its because kids are young or space is tight, sharing a
room with a sibling is something many people experience at
some point or another during their childhood. While sharing a
room can be a fun, fantastic experience that will create lasting
memories, its important to ensure kids have enough space and
privacy to feel comfortable, and enough peace and quiet to sleep
well at night. Here, we oer a few considerations to ensure the
experience is a win/win for siblings and parents alike.
1. Bed Placement
An important consideration when kids will be sharing a room
is bed placement, and there are multiple options to consider.
Bunk beds are the most obvious solution. As the most space-
saving option, its usually the best choice for small rooms. But
bunk beds arent always the typical twin beds stacked right on
top of each other. Nowadays, the top and bottom bunks can be
placed perpendicular to each other, which creates space next to
the lower bunk for storage or a desk. e lower bunk can also
hold a larger, full sized bed. A few other options are:

The What If Project
Reviewing what if scenarios can be a really helpful planning and
emergency preparation tool. Consider the worst-case scenarios for
when (not if ) the next big earthquake hits. But remember that there
are other disasters that could have a significant impact on our daily
lives, and these might require us to be self-sucient for at least several
days. Consider the following situations:
WHAT IF there is an over-topping of the levees with major
flooding in the Shores?
WHAT IF a sewer pipeline bursts or there is a major fire that
sweeps through large portions of our neighborhood?
WHAT IF there is a security emergency at your childs school?
WHAT IF youre at home, your spouse is at work, your child is
at school or any mix of those situations.
Will we be able to connect with all of our family members and
get them home? Does each family member know where to go to
reconnect? (Phone numbers and addresses should be memorized or
in writing. Do not plan to rely on electronics!)
Do we have an out of state contact to check-in with in case local
phone lines are inaccessible?
Is each person properly equipped to get to the meeting point?
(If family members spread out a lot on any given day, members may
need to carry sturdy shoes or some sort of transportation with wheels,
and everyone should keep supplies at hand so theyre each prepared in
any situation.)
WHAT IF disaster strikes in the middle of the night, so family
members are likely together and at home? Do we know how to
stay safe?
Do we keep shoes under our bed in case of broken glass?
Will we have on hand enough food and water to sustain us?
Where is the first aid kit?
Will we be able to maintain hygiene during those days when we
may be cut o from basic services such as water and electricity?
WHAT IF were traveling and caught in an emergency situation?
Do we know how to get to safety?
Do we know the exit path if its pitch black?
Do we have a working flashlight handy?
Did we leave our home secured and can someone check the status
of things for us?
Have we accounted for our pets?
Are we overwhelmed by the concept of emergency/disaster prep?
Dont let this prevent us from taking small steps. Probably most
important is a Go Bag because it can contain all the important
stu in case we have to grab it and go, or use items in it if we stay
home and deal with the aftermath.
Have we considered taking a class to help process possible options
and how we can react? Redwood City/San Carlos has a fabulous
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). All training
units are online at redwoodcity.org/cert or sign up for an
in-person training session the next time its oered. Our
community can always benefit from more helpers, and the CERT
program is perfectly geared toward that.
How can you help others? (See page 14 for a short list of options.
Being self-sucient is the best way to help the community!)
Pack Your Go Bag
A vital component of your disaster kit is a personal Go bag. is is
the one thing you would grab if you have to leave home immediately.
Items should be packed in an easy to carry bag (such as a backpack),
and should be stored in an easy to access place as near as possible to
the door. Prepare a Go Bag for each member of your family (make
sure bags for kids are small enough for them to carry).
Remember that you may not be at home when an emergency
strikes, so keep some additional supplies in your car or at work,
considering what you would need for your immediate safety.

Flashlight (store batteries separately)
Radio solar, crank or battery operated (and extra batteries)
Whistle (for signal purposes)
First aid kit & dust masks
Pocket knife or multi-tool (including solid blade)
Emergency cash in small denominations & coins
Sturdy walking shoes or boots, a change of clothes, a warm hat
(underwear and extra socks are a really good idea!)
Some water & food
Matches (wind / water proof )
Trash bags, duct tape, permanent marker, and paper
Photos of family members and pets for re-identification purposes
List of emergency contact phone numbers, and local maps
Extra keys to your house and vehicle
Extra prescription medications, eye glasses, hearing aid or other
vital personal items (including sanitary items for women)
Hygiene items: deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper
Make it personal -- pack any special-needs items for children,
seniors or people with disabilities. Dont forget to make a Go Bag
for your pets (see Page 14).

SMC Alert is a notification system used to immediately contact you
during urgent or emergency situations with useful information and
updates by sending text or email messages. SMC Alert is free,
however your carrier may charge you a message fee. Register for
SMC Alerts at smcalert.info.
You should also sign up for the Nixle alert system. Text your zip
code to 888-777 or go to https://local.nixle.com/register/ and enter
your address along with your contact information. You will receive
confirmation that you're subscribed and can opt out at anytime.

Create a Family Disaster Plan
Where will your family be when disaster strikes? ey could be at
work, at school, or in the car. How will you find each other?
Disasters strike quickly and without warning. You can be forced to
evacuate your neighborhood or be confined to your home.
What would you do if basic services water, gas, electricity,
telephones, cable and internet were cut o? Local ocials and relief
workers will be on scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach
everyone right away. Families can and do cope with disaster
by preparing in advance and working together as a team. Knowing
what to do is your best protection and your responsibility.
Follow these steps to create your familys personal disaster plan:
1. Meet with your family and discuss why you need to prepare
for disaster. Discuss the types of disasters that are most likely
to happen. Explain what to do in each case.
2. Pick two places to meet: right outside of your house, by a
tree or street light and a second meeting place outside of your
neighborhood, at a friends home, for example. In case you
cant return home, everyone must know the address and
phone number of the chosen location.
3. Ask an out-of-state friend to be your family contact. After
a disaster, its often easier to call long distance. All family
members should call this person and tell them where they
are. Everyone must know your contacts phone number.
4. Quiz your kids every 6 months so they remember what to do.
Build an Emergency Supply Kit
Keep enough supplies to survive on your own, or shelter in place,
for at least several days. If possible, keep these materials in an easily
accessible, separate container or special cupboard. One possibility
is to store all the emergency supplies in large, black garbage bags
in a clean, rain proof garbage can stored outside in a secure
location. Check expiration dates of food and update your kits
when you change your clock during daylight savings time.
Here is a starter list for your kit. Personalize it for your family.
One gallon of DRINKING WATER per person per day (store an
additional gallon per person per day for sanitation / hygiene)
Non-perishable, ready-to-eat foods (and a can opener)
First aid kit (personalized with any necessary medications)
Flashlight (store the batteries, plus extras, separately)
Whistle (for signaling help)
Crank / solar / battery-operated AM/FM radio & batteries
Water filter, iodine tablets or one quart of unscented bleach
for disinfecting water
Personal hygiene items: soap, toilet paper, large black garbage
bags, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush / toothpaste, etc.
Child and pet care supplies or other special care items specific
to your family members (pack some comfort items)
Blankets or sleeping bags

Prepare Your Home
e more precautions you take to safe-guard your home in
advance, the better chance you have of reducing risks.
Install a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and learn how to use it.
Check that all tall furniture (bookshelves, china cabinets, etc.)
are anchored to walls.
use earthquake picture hooks for all pictures and especially
wall hangings above beds.
Check that your water heater is strapped to the wall.
Install latches/locks on doors of cabinets where you store your
best dishes or glassware.
After an earthquake, your escape doors may be stuck. Buy a
pry bar, store it in your home to use to force open doors.
Keep your RED/GREEN Disaster Card provided by RSCA
where it can be easily displayed.
Consider reading other emergency preparedness materials or
take a class for more information. Check out ready.gov.
When & How to Turn Off Gas
If you are in a house and smell gas, you and your family should exit
the house at once, leaving windows and doors open as you go.

Once everyone is out of the house, turn o the gas. It is important
to know exactly where your gas meter is located so that, in the
event of an emergency, you can shut it o.
For a single family house, the meter will be located where it can
be read on the outside of the house. It may be located in a cabinet
that opens to the outside. As you face the meter you will see a pipe
running from the ground to the meter. Approximately 6 to 8
inches above the ground there is a shut-o valve running parallel
with the pipe (see diagram).

turn the valve until the valve is crosswise to the pipe. You will find
the valve is hard to turn so use a long tool to get a lot of leverage.
(Do not turn the gas o just because someone tells you to only turn it
o if you smell gas or your meter is rapidly spinning to indicate a leak.)
Do NOt turn Gas back ON yourself !
Contact PG&E to safely turn the gas on and relight pilots.
Disaster Preparedness in the Shores
We want to reinforce the need for you and your family to be
personally prepared for an emergency. It might be a big
earthquake, or some other natural or man-made disaster. Some
of the tips in this issue are about being prepared for a large scale
disaster like the big one, but others could help you recover from
a more local event like a house fire.
Redwood Shores is an island. We live in a community that is
physically separated from our Belmont, San Carlos, and Redwood
City neighbors by water on three sides and a multi-lane freeway
on the fourth. Our access to the outside world uses two overpasses
that could become inaccessible in a large seismic event.
Although we have a fire station located here in the Shores, we
need to assume that in response to a large earthquake or other
emergency ALL area fire and police resources will be pulled
toward hospitals or other city centers deemed more critical than
our local neighborhoods. is may not be what we would want,
but it is the reality.
We are fortunate to have an airport which if undamaged
would likely be heavily used for local emergency relief services.
But we cant even rely on that.
ese simple facts mean that all Shores residents should plan for
such emergency events as though we will be without the most
basic services for some period of time, possibly a week or more.
Try to really understand the total disruption that a truly large
seismic event would bring!
you MuSt assume that:
ere may be NO emergency services in the Shores. Fire and
police resources will be pulled toward hospitals or other centers
deemed more critical than residential neighborhoods.
You may have NO electricity or gas service.
You may have NO city water.
You may have NO way to communicate with the outside world.
NO phones, NO cable television, NO internet service!
You may be advised to vacate your home because of probable
aftershocks. (Aftershocks sometimes cause more damage than
the original earthquake.)
Your ONLY source of information may be AM radio.

ready. In the words of the Boy Scouts motto

Be Careful Out There
As the rainy season approaches, our streets get wet and slick, and
we still see speeds of 45-50 mph. is is much too fast in our
residential neighborhoods! Take a few extra seconds to get where
youre going and SLOW DOWN on your way in to, out of, or
around the Shores.

How You Might Help in an Emergency
When a large-scale emergency does happen, each of us will need
to be ready. Emergency personnel will be overwhelmed with
demands and we all need to be ready to survive on our own for
at least several days if not longer! In addition to being self-
sucient, think about what skills or equipment you have that
might be of use to your neighbors in an emergency.
If you have military or any medical training, you can help.
If you have a ham radio and are not already a member of our
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)*, you can help.
If you have a motorcycle or ATV that might be able to get
around on broken or blocked streets, (or a boat) you can help.
If you have a gas powered chain saw that could clear downed
trees, you can help.
ere are certainly other skills or equipment you might have that
could be used to help. Dont wait to be asked.
Know your neighbors and look for who might be missing!
Be prepared to find and go to the nearest emergency response
center. (is may not be a shelter, just a coordination center.) at
spot might be the schools or the Redwood Shores Fire Station.

community volunteer making you an invaluable asset. Additional

Are Your Pets Prepared?

People are told to have enough food, water, flashlights, battery
powered radios and the like. But, for pet owners, it is also
imperative you have a plan in place for your animals!
So, here is a list of some of the things you should have in place
for your pets, before you need them:
Sturdy carriers (one for each animal)
Enough food and water for at least 7 days
A photograph of your pet(s)
A copy of your animals vaccination/medical history
Extra medicine if your animal requires medicine
An extra leash, collar and identification tag
Extra litter box or piddle pad
A pet first aid kit (take a pet first aid class!)
If you focus on completing one
item at a time your
task will not seem so
overwhelming. And
in no time you will
be well-prepared
for your animal.
November is a busy month for
community volunteers in the Shores!
On Saturday, November 11th, boy Scout troops 27 & 61 and
Cub Scout pack 61 will be Scouting For Food in Redwood
Shores as part of the largest one day food drive by the Boy Scouts
of America. Items needed include canned foods such as stew, chili,
soup, fruits/vegetables, fish and meat. Cereals, peanut butter, and
juice boxes are also needed. Food collected will be delivered to
Second harvest Food bank. Last year (2016), the 3 groups
collected over 3,000 lbs. of food and $160 in donations to help
feed the hungry. Scouting for Food is one way that our scouts live
out the Scout slogan Do a Good Turn Daily. Find out more at

Please be informed that the City of Redwood City has contracted
NATIONAL PLANT SERVICES, INC. to begin closed circuit
television (CCTV) inspection and cleaning of that purpose, of the
entire Redwood Shores sanitary sewer basins. is project is part
of the Citys Annual Sanitary Sewer CCTV Program. Inspection
began in October 2017 and should conclude in March 2018.
e scope of work for this project shall include cleaning of the
sanitary sewer pipelines, inspect manholes and sanitary sewer
mains using cameras to record visual data and provide CCTV
inspection reports that will be used by City sta to assess the
condition of the existing sanitary sewer mains.
e City and its contractor intend to conduct the work to
minimize the impact of inspection activity in your neighborhood,
although some inconvenience is unavoidable. Although not
expected, lane closures, detours and temporary parking restrictions
may occur during the inspection. All roadway users are asked to
be particularly cautious during inspection. e existing sanitary
sewer services will not be interrupted during the inspection period.
Regular working hours will be between 7:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.,
Monday through Friday. If necessary, and depending upon actual
field conditions, work may be performed at other hours during
holidays, o peak hours, at night or on weekends as directed and
approved by the City Engineer. No Parking signs will be posted
as needed, and trac control implemented during inspection.
Access to property will be maintained at all times for residents,
patrons, and emergency services.

RSCA continues to work together with community members,
Rays family, the Parks & Recreation Department, and now too
with SamTrans, to plan the arrangement of a bench, memorial
plaque and a tree planted for Ray on Bridge Parkway.

Last month, Belmont-Redwood Shores School District
established a sister school relationship with educators from
Qingyuan, Redwood Citys sister city in China (see photo).
anks to Councilmember Je Gee for arranging this
partnership and hosting the delegation, and thanks to Mayor
John Seybert for joining the event and welcoming our new
partners. Next, we will explore hosting teachers from Qingyuan.
We are excited that this partnership will further our strategic plan
goal of fostering responsible global citizenship in our students.

State Test Scores Released

Californias state test results for students in grades 3-8 and 11 were
published last month (see caschooldashboard.org). Once again,
our students in Belmont-Redwood Shores scored in the highest
performance category in reading, writing, and mathematics. In
addition, our English Learners academic progress was in the
highest performance category. Students scores increased from
2016 across all areas as well. Science scores were not reported this
year because the state is piloting a new test aligned to new science
standards. We are so very proud of our students accomplishments
and the overall quality of our educational program.

(How a Connecticut Yankee embraced California Cuisine)

anksgiving is our most favorite holiday. Its not just about all of
the wonderful food, or a fresh oven roaster brined turkey, but about
friends and family gathering together for a festive dinner, good
conversation, and enjoying each others company. e annual
Macys anksgiving Parade (this is our morning tradition!) keeps
us company while baking all of the requested desserts, which can
range from apple pie, pumpkin pie, mincemeat pie, pecan pie
(flavored with a touch of Kahlua), pumpkin chion cheesecake, or
an old time favorite anksgiving Pear Tart. ere are always
numerous dessert choices, made to order, but the Pear Tart is a little
unexpected, elegant and dierent scrumptious when served with
fresh whipped cream and/or French Vanilla Ice Cream. You can
poach the pears ahead of time, and refrigerate them in the poaching
liquid. Or, if you are pressed for time, you can cheat and use pears
canned in light syrup instead. I always opt for poaching fresh
seasonal pears I usually select Bartlett Pears, because they remind
me of my Dads huge Bartlett pear tree in the backyard of our
childhood home, and how he carefully watched over that tree,
tending it from the early spring buds to the late summer harvest of
delicious, juicy fresh pears!
thANKSGiviNG peAR tARt
pOACheD peARS
5 Bartlett, Bosc or Anjou Pears, firm but not too ripe
4 Cups Water
1 Cup White Wine (Sauvignon Blanc is a good choice)
Cup to Cup Bakers (ultra-fine) Sugar
Juice of lemon, strained
Wash pears, cut in half, core and carefully peel. Heat water, wine,
sugar and lemon juice in large saucepan until low rolling boil. Add
pears, turn heat to low / simmer and poach for 20 - 25 minutes.
Carefully turn pears over halfway through poaching. If you like
your pears to have a nice pink blush, use 1 Cup of red wine, instead
of white, for the poaching liquid. When pears are fork tender,
remove from heat and leave in poaching liquid to cool. is step
can be made ahead of time refrigerate pears in the poaching liquid.
pAte bRiSee SuCRee (Sweet Short paste)
10 French Round Tart Pan Oven at 400 Degrees
2 Cups Sifted All Purpose White Flour
2 Tablespoons Sugar
Teaspoon Salt
8 Tablespoons Chilled Butter
3 Tablespoons Chilled Vegetable Shortening (Crisco)
6 Tablespoons Ice Water
is is EASY get out your Cuisinart. Put flour, sugar, salt into work
bowl. Add butter and shortening. Pulse until mixed and
butter/shortening is in pea-sized pieces. Add ice water and pulse until
dough holds together. (You may need more ice water than six
tablespoons.)

use marble pastry slab or even your granite countertop lightly
flour surface and gather dough into a ball. Roll out with rolling
pin to 11 inch + diameter circle, dusting with a little flour if needed.
Drape over tart pan, and press into place. Trim edges. Prick bottom
of tart pan with fork. use non-stick aluminum foil or parchment
paper carefully place over dough and add pie weights, dried beans
or rice to hold foil/parchment paper down. Bake at 400 degrees for
18 - 20 minutes until tart shell begins to brown. Remove tart pan
from oven and remove pie weights. Return to oven and WATCH
LIKE A HAWK as tart shell continues to brown for another 4 -5
minutes. Remove from oven and set aside on kitchen counter.
FRANGipANe FilliNG Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees
2 Packages slivered natural unsalted almonds
1 Cup Bakers Sugar
1 and Cups Softened Butter
4 Large Eggs
2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 Teaspoon Almond Extract
1 and 1/3 Cups White All Purpose Flour
3 Tablespoons Amaretto
Again, get out your Cuisinart! Grind the 2 packages of slivered
almonds, which will give you 3 cups of finely ground almonds.
Pour into small bowl and set aside. Blend softened butter and sugar
in Cuisinart; work bowl until soft; add vanilla and almond extracts,
4 large eggs, and 3 Tablespoons of Amaretto. Continue to pulse
until fluy and bended. Add the flour and blend until mixed
together. Set aside.
Pour Frangipane mixture into pre-baked tart shell, and spread
around evenly. Place one pear half in center of tart shell. You can
simply arrange the remaining pear halves around the center pear, or
slice each pear in half lengthwise and place around the center one
this is the art of the tart and your chance to be creative.
Bake tart on middle rack of preheated oven for 15 minutes. Lower
temperature to 325 degrees and continue baking for another 40
minutes, watching for frangipane mixture to brown. You might
need another 8 to 10 minutes. Its done when a toothpick or
wooden skewer comes out clean. Remove from oven.
Heat 1/3 Cup of Apricot Preserves (add a little Amaretto if you like)
in a saucepan, stirring to blend. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
using a pastry brush, gently brush entire top surface of pear tart
with the apricot glaze. Serve with fresh whipped cream and/or
French vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

RSCA: What We Do
Since 1970 (almost 50 years!) your Redwood Shores
Community Association has worked to make and keep the
Shores a GREAT place to live and work! RSCA has fought
many battles, big and small, to maintain the quality of life we
enjoy here on our little island. We keep you informed
through e PILOT, our email list, with our new roadway
signboards, and on our website.
Our many activities are only made possible by your financial
support, and the larger our Membership the more eective we
can be as advocates for the Shores. RSCA continues to be the
strongest advocate on issues that aect the Shores; we want
RSCA Membership is Now ONLINE!
you to join and support these important eorts.
In October we began our Membership drive for 2018. Many
of you received a letter from RSCA asking for your
Membership and financial support. After years of being asked
how to make Membership payments online, we found a web-
based system that could handle our large data set AND
maintain the privacy of our approximately 5,400 residences
and 600 businesses in the Shores. RSCA has moved its data
files to memberplanet.com.
If we have your valid email address check the address card
we mailed you should have received an email with a link to
log on to our new database where you can update all of your
contact information and make your 2018 Membership
payment online. Of course you can always send a check as
youve done in the past using our return envelope.
