Summary (Guidelines i & ii)

Write a five-sentence long summary that states: a) the problem addressed by the article (the "topic"); b)
the article's method of analysis; c) the article's conclusions and/or recommendations. Remember, if you
record any direct quotes or use paraphrases (not your own words/ideas) be sure to include the page
number where this information came from.

In this article, the author mainly compare Englands abortion law situation and Scottishs one. In both of these areas,
abortion is governed by the 1967 Act as amended by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990, and basically
abortion remains a prima facie crime since abortion is considered to be equal to induced miscarriage. But
there are many differences between them, and the biggest difference is that Scots criminal laws theoretical
foundation is based primarily on the degree of the wickedness of the accuseds intent, thus while both of them allow
the abortion of non-viable fetuses, in relation to viable fetuses, Scot allows the abortion of late-tern fetuses (if there
is no wickedness) and England allows it only if performed to save the women7s life. And although there is a constant
campaign to complete decriminalization of abortion, there seems no plans for change, and especially in Scottish,
owing to its laws feature, completing the decriminalization requires the overturning of the common law position,
which will generate a lot of procedures. In both of England and Scottish, it seems unlikely that either parliament will
habe time in the near feature to become embroiled in debating abortion and the author thinks that if England allow
the decriminalization it will strongly affect to the situation of Scottish.

Assessment and reflection (Guidelines iii & iv)

Now write a few sentences evaluating the source and assessing its usefulness for your research goals

Although this article is interesting, it doesnt seem useful for my essay because it features the difference
between England and Scottish. Im planning to write my essay by comparing the opinions of pro-choice groups
and those of ban-on-abortion group so the compariong style is quite different.
