The Legend of the Police

By: Joshua O. Morales

A long time ago, in the town of Losaklo where innocent people and thugs lived together,

there lived a brave, kind, old farmer named Rosa, who was the only person who was

not afraid of the thugs in their neighborhood because she used to be a martial arts

champion during in her mid-thirties. One night, while she was walking alone along the

muddy street, she heard some weird noise that seemed like it came from a nearby

package, and as she got closer and closer, and then when she finally got near to the

queer object, she peeked into it and surprisingly found two poor, newborn crying babies,

who seemed to be twins, left abandoned in cardboard box in middle of the street. The

old woman brought them home and raised them as her own. She named the two twins,

Bing and Ngengot. As they grew older and bigger, the old woman eventually found out

that the two brothers both had this disability that caused them to not clearly hear those

people whom they were talking to, so they often talk extremely loud, and that was why

some people avoided having a conversation with them. Rosa loved Bing and Ngengot

so much, and she did not care what people thought about them. Since the town was full

of criminals, Rosa had finally decided to teach Bing and Ngengot what she had known

about martial arts, for them to protect themselves from thieves, murderer, and

especially, bullies. When Bing and Ngengot were still teenagers, a lot of mean bullies

were throwing rocks at them and calling them words such as Panget, Abnormal,

Mukhang unggoy, Iyakin, Bading, and Mamas boys. After many years of training,

dedication, and sacrifice the twins have got finally mastered eighty martial art moves

that they have learned from their loving mother. As Rosa became older and older, she

became weak and sick and bedridden. Every day, the twins took care of their sick mom.
In the afternoon, in there small house, Rosa said to them in a harsh, loud voice, Mga

The old woman suddenly

died in their big, wide arms. Bing and Ngengot burst into tears, and they have cried

every day for a week, thinking that they will never meet there alive mother again. A

week later, they bought flowers from the flower shop, and brought it to their moms

grave and stayed there for a little while. Back to the town of Losaklo, an American

traveler, who seemed to be rich and had got a shiny, expensive Rolex watch in his

hand, went astray. He could not find the right direction to New York in his map, so he

asked several people in the town, until three, thugs came to him and, one of the men

said something to him in a language that he could not understand, Hoy, puting tao, akin

na yang relo mo, at ilabas mo rin ang pera mo. What are you saying? The American

traveler innocently replied. The other thug said Naku, lintek. Naloko na. Inglesero pala

to ah. The last thug said to the traveler, Ahh...You money. Give me. I... then

immediately looks at his fellow thug,Ano nga ulet Ingles ng sasaksakin kita? The other

thug replied, Ewan ko eh. The last thug continued, Ahh. You money. Ah knife. I

ah...sasaksakin kita! The thug suddenly put out his knife. The scream of the thug and

the knife made the traveler realized that he was being robbed. The American traveler

surprisingly said, Oh. So youre robbing me, thats what you mean? The traveler

screamed for help saying, Help. Help. Please! Please! Luckily, the two twins, Bing and

Ngengot, heard the travelers scream and followed it, and then they saw the American
guy and the three other guys. The traveler yelled Help me. Please! Please! Bing asked

Ngengot, Anong sabi ng Amerikano? Then Ngengot replied Ewan ko naghahanap

daw ng polpolice eh...police. And the twins helped the traveler, and they beat up the

three thugs through their mighty powerful karate moves. The thugs ran away, they were

extremely hurt and all had black circles on their eyes. The American was truly thankful

and said to the twins, Oh, thank you! Thank you! and then he gave his Rolex watch to

the two brothers as a reward and said As a token of gratitude, I will give you my watch.

Accept this. Please! Please! The American left. Bing said to Ngengot, Tinawag na

naman niya tayong police nung Amerikano. Ngengot replied Oo nga eh, police ang

tawag niya sa atin. And in that day, Bing and Ngengot decided to call the person that

helps innocent people when there is a crime...a Police.
