 Introduction
Me, Maarten Colon and a group of three other people did an experiment trying to find out
whether vital capacity and some other factors had any kind of connection. Our entire class
did this project and if you want to see our entire outcome without an conclusion see the
end. There you will find the table with all of our found information.

We will show you what we did with what items and in what way So You will be able to do
this at home. Also the results will not be the same if you do this with another group because
the final results are average.

 Research question
We wanted to know whether or not gender or height affects vital capacity.

Hypothesis
We thought about this and found different possibilitys but eventually I chose to use the
hypothesis: the vital capacity is larger with men than women because men are usually larger
and do more sports. Of course this is not always the case.

 experiment
for the experiment we used a spirometer and a measuring tape. First we brainstormed on
how to do this experiment and eventually we came to a conclusion. First we would measure
our length and vital capacity. Then we would fill it in on the table(found at the end) where
we would calculate and find out whether our hypothesises were right.

So first I measured my vital capacity by blowing into the spirometer, then I measured my
length these were: 3300 VC(vital capacity) and 1 meter and 66cm. after this I calculated the
average height and VC for woman and men. With these statistics I created a conclusion.

I found that the avereges were:

men women
heigt:1,78 1.8
VC: 3742 2942

From this we concluded that being a man gives you a higher average vital capacity. We came to this
conclusion because as you can see the height is about the same, but the vital capacity of man is much
higher

Discussion
With my project I found that next time I would like to change the way the questions were
conducted and how we tested it. With this I mean that I would like have people do the vc
test multiple time and make an average of the outcomes instead of testing once. Also the
questions could have had some more personal information.
