S Y N O P S I S : One evening, a young man finds a mysterious keychain hanging on a metal
gate by a park.
Trailing the owner of those keys, he embarks on a surreal journey,
eventually discovering what they open:
the pandora box of his own fears.

A curiosity killed the cat cautionary tale.

D I R E C T O R S T A T E M E N T : Jonathan Irving belongs to one of those long and difficult births:

it was remodeled from a script rightfully deemed too ambitious and clumsy.
Before being kicked off by a real life experience: one evening at 2 AM in 2015,
Finding a keychain hanging on a metal gate in A shanghainese park.
Restlessly produced with thin resources and techniques over a fully packed
schedule of 3 consecutive days and nights.
Some scenes frustratingly re-filmed over a month after that.
All of this leading to a long, slow, sporadically rewarding post-production
timeline of two years.
For me its been a long journey coming to an end. I know each film is a process,
with failures and successes. Mine is no different. But looking back at this
endeavor completed against so many odds, and despite some inevitable flaws,
I cannot help but feel a sense of deep pride to have made such a film.
Proud because I had always envisioned this story to evolve in a visual code anchored
in a distinctive reality of its own where surrealistic elements are intended to fit right in.
The look and feel attempts to borrow the cinematic codes of an horror genre.
while not having it turned into a horror movie.
The camera breaks the line many times over, going from one random
angle to the next, constantly handheld as if "something" is watching the
protagonists at all times, like a ghost, a presence, sometimes felt,
sometimes witnessing, always engaged within the context of the story.
Proud also because of the themes expressed in this story:
how we, as humans are curious creatures.
How we would feel the irresistible urge to press the one button
labelled do nOt press.
How we are attracted to what scares us.
whether that fear can be controlled or not.
understood or not.
worded or not.
This is a story preceding the opening of a pandora box. Or how a seemingly insignificant yet perilous find turns
into a more and more irreversible dead end.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy this film as much as, overcoming so many unfavorable challenges, I had joy making it.

Antonin is an independent filmmaker currently based in Chicago fluent in English
Chinese and French. He has been producing and making his own films for 7 years. He
likes video games, dogs, coffee and Mahler amongst other wonderful things.

MATT IS 28, from Scotland however currently living in China.
Throughout HIS whole life HE has had a passion for film, would it be
behind the scenes or on camera.
Acting always held HIS interest the most, how do they do it, how do
they embody another person. all these questions gradually led HIM
taking a leap and trying it out.

HE started off doing mostly comedy as thats what came easiest to HIM,
then from there it grew into a passion, then finally a potential career.
HE now doES lots of varied roles and IS enjoying the process.

comedy is still HIS strong point, ALTHOUGH I find that horror is possibly
the most challenging, for me, as it requires a lot of emotion, all the
time but while it is difficult, I always welcome a challenge.

Paul Cascante, having grown up internationally in Panama, New York,
Los Angeles and Shanghai is currently residing in Los Angeles,
He has been a SAG/AFTRA member since 1988 (SAG/AFTRA) and his credits
include Film, Stage, TV Shows, Indie Films, TV Commercials,

he has noticeably worked on recurring roles on multiple Chinese TV

series in Shanghai. Twice he has received best actor awards on two
short films he wrote, produced, directed and acted in for the Shanghai
Short Film Festival in 2006 and 2008.
