Analysis of superstructure

16.56m Span of Overall width 12.00m

Sailent features of super-structure:
Effective span of the longitudinal girder(C/C of supports) = 16 m
Overall depth of girder = 1.500 m
Width of web = 0.325 m
Thickness of slab (I.e average thickness in case of varying th.) = 0.23 m

Spacing of longitudinal girders (I.e average Spacing in case of varying spacing.) = 2.8 m
Number of longitudinal girders = 4 Nos.
Number of cross girders = 3 Nos.
Thickness of crosss girder = 0.3 m
Depth of cross girder = 1.500 m
Analysis of the super-structure:

Grillage analysis has been carried-out by using the structural analysis programe (STAAD). For the analysis
purpose super-structure is idealised with number of longitudinal and transverse members, assumed as beam
elements, Stiffnesses of the longitudinal girders were calculated by considering of the deck slab and considering
the exact dimensions of the girders. we are now considering the torsoinal stiffness of main girder. The Staad
program furnished does not move the loads in transerve direction and that movement may not be neccesary.
Dead load and superimposed dead load is applied in the form of UDL on the beam elements. Live load analysis
has been carried by using the moving load option available in STAAD package, by moving the vehicle both in
longitudinal direction. The analysis results were appended for ready reference. Following pages shows the step
by step procedure for design of longtudinal and cross girders by considering the values from the analysis
results.

LIVE LOAD:-
The Following Vehicular loads have been considered in the anaylsis
70R - Wheeled

Impactor Factor = 4.5/(6+L) = 20.455%

All the forces are input over the girders in the form of eccentic UDL and the STAAD static analysis has been
Performed and the results in various members are tabulated to asses the critical condition case.
