FAMILY
-basic unit of society
-young children develop their sense of self mostly from their interaction with their
siblings and parents

-considered as the playing fields, where children compete for grades and evaluation

-members of social groups that have similar interest, social positions, or common age
range
MASS MEDIA
-radio, movies, television and internet
-sources of social learning used to observe and imitate behaviors
WORK PLACE
-people who have the passion for work and posses the necessary qualifications will
consider it as a form of socialization that provides them the chance to perform their
duties and fulfil their roles in the society
PROCESS OF SOCIALIZATION
Primary Socialization- initial process of socialization experienced by the individual
that makes him a member of a society
Ascribed status-assinged to a perso WITHOUT regard for the person’s unique talents
or characteristics.
Achieved status- acquired voluntarily or through one’s own effort and personal
abilities
B. SOCIAL ROLE
-set of behaviour expected of people who occupy a given social position or status
ROLE –enables members to anticipate the behaviour of others and pattern their own
actions accordingly.
ROLE CONFLICT- occurs when there is are incompatible expectations that arise
from two or more social positions held by the same person
ROLE STRAIN- a tension between and among the roles connected to a SINGLE
status
