Sail Into the Sunset: A Bibliographical Analysis

This comprehensive BBC article discusses various yacht

properties and prices from the low end hobbyist level all the

way up to the top-gunning Russian oligarch yacht which is near

state-of-the-art. Snedden goes into great detail on how to take

your time with looking into what yacht fits your needs and

various properties that fit within that. She also takes a few

moments to look at some potential downsides to yacht owning.

Yacht owning fairly obviously has its costs and this

articles takes it and puts it into perspective. A good number of

yachts come with hefty fees just alone on fuel with tanks

topping out at thousands of gallons. Sneddens description of

how to look at yachts takes into account every aspect from the

customization of the vessels interior to the name on the

backplate of the boat. What Ive read puts into good perspective

the amount of time and delicacy needed to maintain a yacht and

make sure that youre not burning your time and money on

something that you love too quickly. Sneddens complications

section also points out where inexperienced buyers might turn to

and where to stay away from when buying a yacht. She has also

pointed out that new owners might look to owning a share of a

boat with other people in order to take care of fuelling,

docking, and maintenance fees.

I have gone with this article as a credible source for a

number of reasons. One, it is from BBC which alone has a highly

known reputation in unbiased and straightforward news and

information. Two, it is written by a single person and not a

group. Three, the writer has referenced in text a number of

places to gather the information that was used in the article.

On top of all this, the subject at hand makes it hard for this

kind of stuff to be biased. Why would you lie about the prices

of a yacht?

Tracking the Yachts and Jets of the Mega-Rich

While the article mostly looks at the incredulously

shocking relationship between private yacht and jet owner Dmitry

Rybolovlev, a Russian fertilizer magnate. The article reviews

the immense costs that Dmitry has undertaken to acquire such

luxurious assets such as the yacht that holds several hundred

thousand gallons of fuel. The article while comparing the

location differences between Dmitrys assets and Trumps

campaign locations, discusses AIS, a ship wide market standard

system used to identify marine vessels, their location, and

headings.

The article wasnt too insightful on the front of useful

information, but helped me greatly in the subject of

understanding what I must undertake when I do own a yacht. The

fact that nearly every large vessel or marine vessel can be

found simply by googling it is fascinating. I might find this

to be an invasion of privacy, but I am willing to remain inside

the boundaries of the law should this goal of mine come to

fruition.

Credibility wise, the New York Times holds a well known

reputation for national news. The author of the article, Robert

Frank, is a not too obvious character who spends most of his

authoring time writing about the lifestyles and events of the

rich.

How to Buy a Yacht - Yacht Sales

This article is a very detailed and descriptive set of

instructions and guidelines. The guide reviews terminology and

various price-affecting factors of yachts and defines some

techniques that buyers will use to test drive a yacht. The

article, since published by a Yacht Broker, is indeed biased

towards buying a yacht from the publishing group, but is still

sound in advice. The article also links a number of various

resources and calculators that will assist a buyer when making

decisions.

The article was very descriptive and detailed pulling

information from both fact and from company guidelines. It

wasn't the most descriptive thing Ive read, but it takes care

of a very generalized outline of what has to be done when buying

a yacht.

Credibility-wise, this is not the most credible source.

There is no direct author listed and no date listed for currency

reasons. The article was published on a private website by a

yacht broker, who is indeed, biasing the guide towards buying a

yacht from that broker. I would not use this as a primary

guide, let alone use it as any sort of guide apart from

generating a very general overview of what process it takes to

buy a yacht.

The Connoisseurs Guide to Buying a Yacht

While compared to the previous article, this consumer

reports style guide explains the differences in design,

quality, and buying process of various yacht types from sailing

yachts through custom designed and brokerage models. The article

also concludes with some basic know-how on touring sales docks

and shipyards, along with recommended yacht sales agencies.

The article is a very detailed work of explaining different

types of models of yachts. Not so much on factual prices and

federal standards for buying a yacht. This article appeals more

to, how to custom design and or find a yacht that will suit

utilitarian or aesthetics needs. While still applicable to my

search in inquiry, this source has not availed information that

Ive been particularly looking for, but does help when searching

for yachts.

Credibility side, the article is actually written by a

person, and not a group, more specifically published by a

reviews like company such as TechRadar for computer parts,

Robb report is for luxury style life. Robb Report as an agency

is part of the Penske Media Corporation, a media giant on the

global communication platform. According to their LinkedIn page,

they are intertwined with numerous magazines and online

websites.

5 Things to Know Before Buying a Boat

Hutchison 7

This article, written by a correspondent to a law firm,

goes through and looks at in shocking detail, 5 things that are

almost required to know when purchasing a yacht. Some of the

points, appear to be more guidelines, but turn out to be

critical points that make buying a boat easier in the long run.

Potential points also include boat sales tax, boat insurance,

and federal standards paperwork.

This source...is so detailed. It takes into account various

things you need to know about engine emissions, formal liens,

mortgages, coast guard documentation, states and sales taxes,

everything. I can say that this article has been the most

informative out of all I have reviewed thus far. I will be using

this in my inquiry.

On the credibility side, I cannot find very much

information on who the CWL Law Firm is, apart from that it has

won awards on US News Best Law Firms and AVs 2016 Top Law

Firms. The author is an attorney and actually works for the CWL

Law Firm. He specializes in vessel law including marine.
