Operating Instructions

BEIJING STAND ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY COMPANY

1. Working principle of STAND electric humidifier
STAND Electric humidifier operates on the Joule Effect, i.e. have the electric heating elements immersed
into the water and make them energized, then they will generate the heat; such heat will warm up the water to
the boiling point to generate the vapour, thus make the water content evaporate.

2. Scope of application
This type of humidifier is specially applicable to the central air-conditioning systems in war industry,
laboratory, hospital, medical appliances, electronic workshops, offices, working places and private apartments,
refrigerating devices, purifying rooms, production buildings and computer rooms and other aseptic locations.

11. Connecting water line

The user shall connect the feed line and drain line to the humidifier in accordance with the following
requirements during installation of the humidifier.
11.1 Feed line
The internal diameter of feed pipe is G1/2. The feed line must be provided with a ball valve with through
diameter of G1/2. The feed pressure varies from 1 to 5bar. The water temperature shall not exceed 40. It is
particularly noted that it is better to apply the softened water and pure water.
11.2 Drain line
a) The water drained from the humidifier is non-toxic and non-corrosive, therefore can be directly drained
into the sewage system; however, the drain temperature of sewage from the electric humidifier is very
high, approaching 100, and common PVC or plastic pipes cant be used as sewage pipe and if the
sewage pipe must be applied with common PVC or plastic pipes, then the temperature must be dropped

6
down with a cooling water tank or cooling pipeline (metallic) to below 50 before introducing to
common PVC or plastic pipes.
b) STAND Electric cooling water tank is considered as options and subject to the users selection when
ordering.
c) The drain line is provided with manual ball valve. The user shall drainage the dirt in the tank on a
timing basis.
The user shall make the preparations as below:
1. Water feed: prepare G1/2 water source interface in the air conditioning engine room; the water source
line shall be provided with additional ball valve.
2. Water drain: prepare G3/4 metallic water drain line in the air conditioning engine room.
3. Prepare corresponding pipe fittings joints, reducer unions, and unions.

12. Electric connections

12.1 Connecting electric cabinet to the grid
a) The humidifier must be connected to the grid. Moreover, this grid must be capable of providing
power for the humidifier (including electric cabinet) via ground wire, phase wire and neutral wire
(single phase voltage) of sufficient capacity. The user is suggested to configure the power leads as

inside the electric cabinet as per the wiring diagram, and then pack them firmly.
b) Properly connect the wires as per the terminals wiring diagram inside the electric cabinet.

CAUTION: Cable diameter corresponding to each group of electric heating elements!!!

12.3 Connecting control signals to electric cabinet
a) Type N Electric cabinet can receive a humidity control signal or a ON/OFF passive relay-type switch
signal from automatic system to control the operation of humidifier.
b) Type K Electric cabinet can receive a 0~10V/4~20mA continuous regulating signal from automatic

14. Operating procedures

14.1 Check

Before switching on the humidifier, the following respects must be checked:

Whether the power leads, working ground wires and protective wires are connected properly and firmly in
accordance with the requirements
Connection of sensors and control signals
The steam outlet must be free of obstruction
Water feed connection of the humidifier
Water drain connection of the humidifier
Whether the electric cabinet matches the humidifier

14.2 Switching on the humidifier

Open the electric cabinet and pull the trigger of air switch to the position of ON;
Press the power switch on the control cabinet. The switch indicator goes on, indicating the power has been
put through
CAUTION: to prevent dry burning of heating elements, please do confirm the water line has been
supplied with water and opened before switching on the power switch.

14.3 Humidity setting

Type N: a passive relay type switch signal ON/OFF is sent to the humidifier from the automatic control
system. The humidifier may work or stop as per the signal;
Type K: a 0~10V/4~20mA continuous regulating signal is sent to the humidifier from the automatic
control system; the humidifier may automatically regulate the steam output (i.e. humidifying
capacity) as per the changes of signal. Attention is required that such signal must be the control
signal from the automatic control system but not the humidity signal from the humidity sensor.
14.4 Indicators
After connecting above parts and feeding the water via feed valve for a period of time, the float switch
controlling the level is connected; at this time you may hear pa sent by the main contactor in the electric
cabinet and the cabinet is put through. The working indicators on the control cabinet go on; the electric heating
elements make the power supply put through, and the humidifier starts heating. In several minutes, you may
find steam ejecting from the steam outlet or the steam distributor.

14
15. Troubleshooting
15.1 Water shortage
After the feed valve is opened for feeding the water for 20 minutes, there is still no humidifying current or
the current is too weak;
Reasons:
1. There is no water in feed pipe or the water pressure is insufficient
2. Feed valve is blocked or damaged
3. Electric heating pipelines are virtually connected, pressure switch are virtually connected or float
switch is virtually connected
4. Feed lines are blocked
Check and handling method
1. Check the feed lines
2. Check the feed valve and the filter
3. Check whether the pipeline between the water tank and the heating water tank is blocked
4. Check the wiring

15.2 Insufficient humidifying current

The water level of the humidifying water tank has approached the highest level, but there is no current
through the heating elements
Reasons:
1. One or multiple heating elements are damaged
2. The main contactor is damaged
3. The float switch is damaged
Check and handling method
1. Check whether all heating elements are current
2. Check the main contactor
3. Change the float switch

15.3 The humidifier does not start

The electric cabinet is not energized and the whole humidifier fails to start
Reasons:
1. The general power supply does not provide the electricity or the power switch on the
electric cabinet is not opened
2. The external signals do not reach the humidifier
3. The external regulator, the humidity switch or sensor is wired improperly
4. The humidity setting point is too low
Check and handling method
1. Check each protection in a direction reverse to power supplying
2. The contact point for connecting the humidity control on the terminal must be closed
3. Check the external wiring
4. Increase the humidity setting point

15.4 No power supply for electric cabinet

Reasons:

15
1. The wiring inside the electric cabinet is made improperly
2. The transformer has no output voltage
3. The circuit of power supply switch on the panel is broken
4. The fuse is burned out
Check and handling method
1. Check the correctness of the wiring
2. Check the secondary output of the transformer
3. Close the power supply switch on the panel
4. Check the fuse of original secondary

15.5 Circuit breaker tripping

Reasons:
1. The drain line has leakage to the ground
2. The steam line has leakage to the ground
Check and handling method
Check that the steam or drain line shall not be made of metallic or conductive rubber.

15.6 External circuit breaker tripping

Reasons:
The capacity of circuit breaker is too small
Check and handling method
Check that the current through the circuit breaker shall be at least one and half of the rated current of
the humidifier

17. Operating, maintenance and precautions

17.1 Working voltage: not greater than 1.1 times of rated value, the enclosure shall be earthed effectively
17.2 Water supply: clean water unlikely forming scale, free of corrosion and impurities
17.3 The humidifier shall be installed horizontally and shall not be inclined. During connecting the external
water pipes, attention shall be given that the valve port direction of feed valve shall not rotate.
17.4 During the operation of the humidifier, the steam outlet shall not be covered to prevent the steam drain
from being affected
17.5 Do not regulate and remove the float valve and the control switch to avoid damage.
17.6 Frequent check shall be made to confirm whether the travel switch knockout-pin inside the control

16
cabinet contains foreign substances and ensure the pin slide freely
17.7 Frequent check shall be made on the water tank in respect of the scale and if yes, clean the tank. The
power supply must be switched off during cleaning
17.8 In case of long period of out-of-operation, the power supply and the water source shall be closed and
completely empty the remaining water in the tank.
