EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Today ‘Education’ has become very vital part of a child’s life and his/ her parents’ life. The entire life
of a child stands on quality education, which he takes from his childhood.

The concept of overall development of a child is nurtured in every educational institute. But has
anyone pondered on the concept of overall development? Vivid natured children take admissions in
each institute. Every parent wishes their child to be an exceptional child. But is it possible?

Yes, it is possible. We treat a child like a child, and help him to develop his own inclination. This can
be done from day one that is when he takes his first step in the institute, where he is going to spend his
next 14 years.

Apart from academics what does a child need? A child needs motivation which further can help him
for self motivation, warmth to have a feeling of safety, self experience as that is his natural instincts
and a free environment.

So let us all understand the need of a child and work on that for his future as well as to build the
nation.

A child passes his 25 percent of life in taking education to make his 75 percent of life struggle free. So
let us talk about the first phase of his life that is his pre-primary education (In the next articles we well
be speaking about the next phases).

Pre-primary education plays a very important role in a child’s life. As referred above, he needs
motivation, warmth, self-experience and free environment. Apart from academics, these areas are very
important if we understand the depth of it. Many educationists and psychologists have worked on
these concepts and they have drawn many conclusions, but the one that appealed to me the most was a
Kids Lab, or say Kids Zone.

Here, kids are provided with n number of things, but they really come up with their own creativity.
Students are taught language, numbers, and environment, in a play-way method where they actually
work. As the sensitivity towards the environment has become a need of the hour, kids are taught to
feel and care for nature. They are shown growth of plants, water cycle, concept of wild and domestic
animals, reuse of waste products, awareness of different festivals, customs ad traditions.

In the language zone, the kids learn phonetic alphabet recognition, finer motor skills, learning about
the formation of alphabets, colours & shape recognition.

These kids zones/ laboratories are very spacious, colourful, differently shaped, and are also made
animated and musical. Every kid’s zone is equipped with state-of-the-art computers and a unique
technological teaching aid – The SMART CLASS.

Creativity, innovation, sensitivity are the areas which are not taught, they are developed, which is done
in the kids lab.
