A Feast for the Eyes, guest curated by Franklin
Hill Perrell, explores how food has always
inspired artists. The exhibition offers viewers
eclectic portrayals of food, restaurants, cafs,
shops, parties and table decorations. Included
are luscious depictions of food by artists such as
Ben Schonzeit and Wayne Thiebaud, Berenice
Abbotts photographs of food-rela ted sights in
New York, Judith Leibers fabulous jeweled
evening bags in fruit and vegetable shapes, as
well as Al Hirschfelds famed Broadway celebrity
and restaurant drawings and humorous cartoons
on food and eating by The New Yorkers Roz
Chast. Other major artists in the exhibition are
Andy Warhol, Audrey Flack, Henri Matisse,
George Grosz, Red Grooms, Roy Lichtenstein
and Cindy Sherman, among others.

Sketching in the Galleries
Tuesdays, 1-2 p.m., August 23, September 20, October 18
You dont have to be able to draw to enjoy this new
program! This is not about the final result but rather
about taking time to look closely at works of art to get
a better understanding of how the artist created them.
Led by Museum educators, this program encourages
visitors to slow down as they engage in a variety of
drawing assignments that focus on the artists use of
line, proportion, texture and value. Paper and pencils
will be provided (participants are welcome to bring
Gina Beavers, Yummmm, 2015 their own sketchbooks). Program is limited to 10

The 2016 Museum Ball

The vibrant and edgy art of our most recent exhibitions, Kenny Scharf and Glamorous Graffiti, were the inspiration for the 2016
Museum Ball. Each year, the Ball is the Museums major annual fundraiser, a beautiful, black-tie event that raises a major portion of the
annual budget and helps to support our ambitious schedule of exhibition and public and school programming. New for the 2016 Ball
was Late Cosmic Party, an afterparty just for young trendsetters.

An Evening of Glamorous Graffiti, the 2016 Ball was chaired by Museum Board President Angela Susan Anton, the publisher and
owner of Anton Community Publications. Angela and her committee carried through the Balls theme with pops of color and industrial
dcor objects throughout the dinner tent. Those pops of color also extended to the festive attire worn by many of the guests. The
Journal Committee was chaired by M. Patricia Janco-Tupper and Rebecca Creavin, both of Wells Fargo Bank. Congratulations to our

and friends of our Corporate Committee under the leadership of Ray Sikorski. The

Fun for the whole family as the American Concern for Art and recently visited Albany to meet with

Institute of Arts (KIA). One exhibition will
be devoted to the work of Ansel Adams,
whose ability to create photographs with
a remarkable range and subtly of tones is
legendary. This exhibition of Adams'
photographs from the KIA collection
suggests how his intuitive and emotional
response to the landscape resulted in
powerful and enduring photographs.

Neiman Marcus Family Sundays at the Museum
Sundays, 1-4 p.m.: Family Tour at 1 p.m., Art Activities at 1:30 p.m.
Converse, collaborate and create together during Neiman Marcus
Family Sundays from 1 to 4 pm. Family Sundays begin with
exhibition conversations in the galleries. These Sunday afternoon
experiences provide children and the adults in their lives with the
opportunity to reconnect while talking about and making art
together. New projects inspired by the exhibition are offered each week! Reservations
not needed, free with Museum admission. Please note: Family Sundays not offered
on September 25 and October 30; please plan to attend our special family programs
those dates.
Hear It! See It! Draw It!
Fridays, 10-11 a.m., August 5, 12, 19
A morning program that invites children ages 3 to 5 and their
caregivers into the galleries to listen to stories, explore works of art
and create drawings inspired by what they see and hear. Hear a
different story every week. Space is limited to 20 children and
their adult companions. Register at events@nassaumuseum.org.

Super Family Sunday: A Taste for Art
New York City Childrens Theater
Sunday, September 25, 1-4 p.m.
Performances at 1:30-2:15 p.m. & 2:45-3:30 p.m.
Join us for a day of theatre and art inspired by A Feast for the
Eyes, an exhibition all about food and dining. With the New York
City Childrens Theater company, participate in theater, movement
and songwriting activities. Then collect your own art making
ingredients to create larger-than-life sculptures and design an
artwork using pizza boxes! Performances are at 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. (space is
limited, come early!). Museum admission plus $10 per family materials fee,
reservations not needed. Please note: This event is in place of Family Sundays.
Super Family Sunday: Enchanted Halloween:
A Family-Friendly Forest Adventure
Sunday, October 30, 1-4 p.m.
A family-friendly Halloween celebration, well stroll through and
explore the Enchanted Forest as it becomes a whimsical world of
imagination. As part of this Halloween adventure, youll encounter
real live creatures from Volunteers for Wildlife, listen to stories,
and build tiny fairy homes. Museum admission plus $10 per
family materials fee, reservations not needed. Please note: This event is in place of
Family Sundays.
