understanding of... materials depend on Critical thinking
their properties:
Structure, properties and A. Medical Implants, Multiple intelligence
uses of matter. prosthesis.
B. Sports equipment
C. Electronic devices

supplies for building
and furniture.
E. Household
gadgets (S11/12ES-

LESSON: STRUCTURES, PROPERTIES AND USES OF MATTER

Specific Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

Explain and define the structures, properties and uses of matter.

Science Concepts:

Understanding the various state of matter as solid, liquid and gas, and distinguish
one from the based on their properties.

Prerequisite Concept:

Students must be knowledgeable about:

The matter based on their composition as element, compound and mixture.
All things around us are matter.

ACTIVITY DURATION MATERIALS

ROUTINE
Prayer 5 minutes
Greetings
Checking of attendance

REVIEW
Natural Motion 5 minutes
Unnatural Motion
Rubber band
ENERGIZER 5 minutes Bottled water
String Engineering

PRIMING:
The students will watch a 4 minute video
about what is matter.
5 minutes Video presentation
QUESTION:
Are you ready to know what is matter all
about?

ACTIVITY Materials:
The class will be divided into seven Walis tingting
groups and each group will do the Illustration board
activity. 10 minutes Chalk
Each group will list the uses of walis
tingting in the illustration board. The
group that will finish first within 3
minutes will get a 10 points.

ANALYSIS
Based from your performance, did 10 minutes
you realize that the structure of a
material relates to its properties and
eventual uses?
Do you believe that everything
around us is made up of matter?

ABSTRACTION:

All the objects around us whether

living or non-living, are matter. What
we drink, food we eat, air we 20 minutes Power point
breathe, chair we sit on, are all presentation
examples of matter. Matter is
anything that has mass and takes
up space. Matter appears in a huge
variety of forms such as rocks,
trees, computers, clouds, people,
etc. Matter embraces each and
everything around us. Therefore, in
order to understand the world, it
would be necessary to understand
the matter.

APPLICATION:
Now, we all know that everything PowerPoint
around us is made up of matter, 10 minutes Presentation
how will you apply it in daily life?
