LEARNING STANDARD : 3.1.1 Identify, recognise and name the letters
of the alphabet
3.1.2 Recognise and sound out with some
support beginning, medial and final sounds
in a word
LEARNING OBJECTIVES : Most of the pupils will be able to:
1. Identify at least 3 letters of the words
based on the cards shown.
2. Read at least 3 words with the /ei/
sound based on the picture flashcards
shown by the teacher.

*ACTIVITIES : 1. Pupils identify the flashcards shown by the
i. PRE-LESSON : teacher
2. Pupils try to guess the words as they are
revealed one by one
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 3. 3. Pupils volunteer to write the words on the
whiteboard; play, watch, day, game, ball,
what, hurray, match.
4. 4. Pupils listen to the /ei/ sound: ay as
pronounced by the teacher.
5. 5. Pupils say the letter names and write more
 words which follow this rule
6. 6. In groups, pupils need to rearrange the
letters based on the picture given.
7. 7. Pupils say out loud the word formed.
8. 8. Pupils will exchange the pictures with
other groups and the same activity repeated
until they completed all six set of pictures.
