Fireproof Movie Reflection

1. Cite one segment of the movie that struck you the most and explain why?

The scene that struck me the most is where Caleb and Catherine reconciled. Its where Caleb found
out that Catherine knew about the notebook his dad gave him and Catherine asked Caleb what day
he is on the Love Dare. It struck me the most because it showed how the efforts of Caleb to
mend their relationship doesnt end with the things that the Love Dare said, and even though he
finished it all he still continued to show how much he love his wife

2. Defend your point of view, do you think Caleb understood when he mentioned to his fellow
firemen the words You should not leave your partner especially on fire with what was
happening to his marriage?

For me, at first I think he understood his words as a fellow firemen but not as a husband. In
marriage, fire symbolizes the challenges that will put the marriage on the line. But at times like
that, couples should conquer and face the challenges together so that they wouldnt resort in
separating and to continue in fulfilling their promises to each other. But as the story goes on and
Caleb mend their relationship, he understood well why you must not leave your partner, which is
his wife, especially on fire.

3. Support your answer. Do you think that divorce is the solution when married couple fall out of
love? Why do people fell out of love?

For me, no, divorce is not the solution for married couples who fell out of love. From the start,
they shouldve been sure that they wanted to be with their partners for the rest of their lives and
also they made promises in front of God that they would be with each other for better and for worst
and til death do they part. I think people fell out of love because of unexpected changes. Change
is constant. There will always be problems, challenges and temptations inside and outside a
relationship. But couples should stand by each other especially on those times and be with one
another and conquer those hardships together.

4. How did the movie support our discussions about Christian marriage, divorce, covenant and
love?

The movie is a perfect example of the importance of marriage. Also it is an epitome on why
marriage is more than just a contract that you could end once youre not satisfied with it.
Sometimes you fell out of love but if you try your hardest to mend the relationship and make
efforts to fulfill your promises when you were so in love with each other, maybe then everything
would fall back into place, just what Caleb did in the movie. It also portrayed how when God is
the center of a relationship, it will help the couples overcome the challenges they will face.

5. Would you think that the Love DARE is responsible for bringing the love back between
Caleb and Catherine? Support your answer.

I dont think that the Love Dare is responsible for bringing the love back between Caleb and
Catherine but it is one of the tool that helped them. Though Caleb was hesitant to do it at first, he
still continued to make efforts despite Catherines cold response. I think Calebs sincerity and love
is what really is responsible for mending their relationship and bringing back the love that was
lost. Caleb chose to stay and made efforts to make their relationship work and in the long-run
Catherine saw Calebs sincerity and accepted him again. They both grew and matured individually
and now their relationship, with God as the center, is stronger than before. It was their choice to
bring back their love for one another.
