Seattle Academy Suspends Science Teacher for Misconduct

This statement was issued by Seattle Academy leadership on November 20, 2017, and updated on
November 21, 2017:

SEATTLE Nov. 21, 2017 Seattle Academy has placed one of its faculty members, science teacher
Gabe Cronin, on immediate administrative leave after being informed by law enforcement that he is under
formal investigation on suspicion of engaging in sexual misconduct online. This investigation has been
referred to the U.S. District Attorneys Office.

The safety and well-being of our students is our priority, said Head of School Joe Puggelli. We worked
swiftly to terminate Mr. Cronins contact with students and our facilities. We will continue to work closely with
investigators to ensure a complete understanding of the situation.

Seattle Academy has received no information that any current or former Seattle Academy student has been
the subject of inappropriate conduct.

Mr. Cronin has taught at Seattle Academy for more than ten years, and has not, to the schools knowledge,
been previously investigated for unlawful activity or inappropriate behavior. In addition to his role as a high
school chemistry teacher, Mr. Cronin has been faculty leader of the Academys robotics program.

Until we received this news, we had no reason for concern about Mr. Cronins interaction with students,
and are shocked and saddened by this, Puggelli said.
