PHOTOGRAMMETRY TERMS

Crab - occurs when the aircraft is not oriented with the flightline; photo edges
are not parallel to the flightline and it usually occurs when the pilot is trying to
compensate for a cross wind and orients the plane into the wind to maintain the
flightline. VARUN SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation[
qiqqa_manual ]

Drift -the lateral shift of the aircraft from the flightline; this may be caused by pilot
error or the effect of wind on the aircraft. VARUN SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced,
MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation

Flying height - the vertical height of the lens above ground at exposure. It is the
height of the lens above datum (e.g. MSL) minus the mean height of the terrain.
VARUN SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation

Neat Model - area of the overlap bounded by the principal points of the
consecutive photographs VARUN SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad,
PPT Presentation

Parallactic angle - also known as the convergence angle, is formed by the

intersection of the left eye's line of sight with that of the right eye. The closer this
point of intersection is to the eyes, the larger the convergence angle. VARUN
SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation

Photo nadir point - It is a point on photograph obtained by dropping vertical line

from camera center. That plumb line extendd up to ground gives Ground Nadir
Point (N) https://www.slideshare.net/virajain/lecture-1aerial-photogrammetry

Resection - Resection is the process of recovering the exterior orientation of a

single photograph from image measurements of ground control points.

Stereoscope - A device which permits each eye to see as one a pair of

photographs that shows an area from different exposure points and thereby
produces a three-dimensional (stereoscopic) image (model). VARUN SINGH,
Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation
Swing -Angle measured in plane of photograph from +y axis clockwise to photo
nadir point. VARUN SINGH, Assistant Professor, Ced, MNNIT Allahabad, PPT Presentation

Exposure station - The point in the atmosphere occupied by center of camera

lenses at instance of photography. https://www.slideshare.net/virajain/lecture-
