Toddler Strategy Sheet
1. Evey
Goal: Evey will recognize the colors red, yellow, blue
and green at least two times a day.
The teachers will show the colors red, yellow, blue and
green with Evey often during the day and when the
opportunity arises (IELG D4 G47 Ages 6-18 months CI4:
Responds to changing light, colors, patterns and
textures).
The teachers will intentionally find toys that are those
colors and ask her what they are and encourage her to
say it with them and repeat what she says (Language
Worksheet-Expansion).
The teachers will label colors around the room so that
Evey can see what the colors are called on paper
(Language Worksheet-Intentional).
2. Leslie
Goal: Leslie will recognize and use 1-2 new English
words each toddler lab.
The teachers will model English as they read books to
her and ask her questions (Language Worksheet).
The teachers will label the objects in class with Spanish
signs so that the teachers can go over them with her in
both languages (Language Worksheet).
The teachers will pause to allow Leslie to speak so that
they can check for understanding and then respond
accordingly (Language Worksheet).
3. Emmarie
Goal: Emmarie will recognize and identify numbers 3
and higher two times in lab and recognize the quantity
of items.
The teachers will pause to allow Emmarie to speak
when asked about the count of items so she can
respond accordingly and check for understanding
(Receptive Language Handout).
The teachers will count and identify numbers at each
station each day so we can assist Emmarie in
accomplishing her goal (Language Strategies
Worksheet).
Teacher Strategy Three: The teachers will use parallel
talk and self-talk to count items in numbers from 3, 4,
5 and further (Expressive Language Handout).
4. Mason
Goal: Mason will share two times with his classmate in
toddler lab.
The teachers will model language as they offer Mason
the opportunity to share with his classmates.

The teachers will label times and be aware of their
surroundings of when Mason can share with his
classmates.
The teachers will use parallel talk and self-talk to
model words when inviting Mason to share any
materials with others (Language Core PowerPoint).
5. Vera
Goal: Vera will follow simple two-step directions twice
a day in lab
The teachers will set clear expectations as they give
directions. (IELG)
The teachers will use the 10- second rule after giving a
direction. (Core)
The teachers will provide positive reinforcement each
time she correctly follows directions.
6. Porter
Goal: Porter will be speaking 10 words by the end of
toddler lab.
Teachers will label objects with pictures and words for
Porter to practice. (Language Handout)
Teachers will use parallel and self-talk with Porter to
promote language development. (Language Handout)
Teachers can sign names of objects and prompt Porter
to say beginning sounds of the object names.
7. Paxton
Goal: Paxton will play alongside with other children at
least once during toddler lab.
Including activities that Paxton and other children can
play together with
Having a teacher invite Paxton over to an activity.
Pointing out to Paxton that there is an activity that
includes his interests.
8. Paige
Goal: Paige will recognize the letters of her name at
least once during toddler lab.
Teachers can point out letters to Paige in the different
areas of the room to help her develop the knowledge
that letters spell things.
Teachers can write Paiges name in the art center.
Teachers can have her copy them as they spell her
name or write it.
9. Liam
Goal: Liam will initiate interactions with others 3 times
during toddler lab.
Teachers will model how to join a group of toddlers so
that Liam can see how to do it.
Invite him to join a group of toddlers.
We will create activities that Liam and the other
children are interested in so that he will want to go to
an activity with other toddlers.
10. Eden
Goal: Eden will take turns three times during lab.
Teachers can model how to take turns with other
students, and use self-talk when we do take turns.
Teachers can give a time limit. Example: You can play
with this toy for two minutes and then it will be your
friends turn.
Teachers will explain why its important to take turns
and emphasize the feelings of the other students.
11. Beckham
Goal: Beckham will vocalize that he wants something
once or twice each toddler lab.
Place items of interest that Beckham knows how to say
the names of in specific areas to encourage him to ask
for those items.
Parallel talk when Beckham points to ask for items so
he can hear the names of the items hes pointing to.
Model how to ask for items when he wants something.
12. Maddie
Goal: Maddie will use a 3-4 word sentence at least
twice a day in toddler lab.
Ask open ended questions about what shes doing to
give her the opportunity to speak in full sentences.
Expand on things that she says by phrasing the things
that she says into 3-4 word sentences.
Use descriptive language as you play with her so that
she can increase her vocabulary.
