Policies

Calculator (Im sure you have a calculator by now.)

It has to be a scientific calculator for this course. You should have it handy during lectures, labs and it
is a must for you to have your own calculator during quizzes and tests.

Attendance
You should be in class before the lesson begins, tardiness is considered absent once the attendance
is taken. Attendance will be taken every class meeting. You are strongly recommended to attend all
classes. Refer to the academic regulation guideline, you might not be allowed to sit for the final if you
do not fulfill the requirement.

Tests
There will be three closed-book tests given during the term and one comprehensive final exam given
at the end of the term. Dates for tests will be announced in class. Make-up tests can be given, if
arrangements are made beforehand. If you do not show up for the test, and I have not been
contacted before the start of the exam, you will not be allowed to make up the test.

Quizzes
There will be announced quizzes given during the term(if time permissible). These quizzes are
designed to ensure that you are keeping up on a daily basis with the required reading. No make up
quizzes will be given.

Problems
Much of the real learning in physics occurs through active problem solving. There might be several
suggested problems assigned that you do not have to hand-in but if time permissible it will be
discussed in class if you have tried it out. You are encouraged to work extra, unassigned problems
from the back of each chapter.

Grading
Your final grade will be determined according to the following scheme

3 Tests, Quizzes, Assignments 50 %
