 ABSTRACT
Waste is a wide ranging term encompassing most unwanted materials it includes any
scrap material, effluent or unwanted surplus substance or article that requires disposal because it
is broken worn out contaminated or otherwise spoiled. As the material wealth of households has
increased, generation of waste has also steadily increased thus proper waste management play a
vital role in protecting our environment.
This research provides an overview of the waste management and recycling in the
Philippines and the responses of the government to address various problems brought about by
improper waste management, the application of good governance though participation of various
stakeholders, strong awareness campaign, promotion and replication of innovate and appropriate
technology to achieve sound waste management and sustainable recycling industry.
It also gives us an insight on the benefits to farmer the importance of waste management
system in the agricultural sector.
