Respect, Honor, and Love ({alk to Charlotte Third Ward Primary; corrections and updates made) Since the theme for this month is about showing respect, honor, and love, I thought I would talk about these 3 things. To respect means to show care and concer. Honor is similar to respect in that to honor is to show care and concer. In Exodus 20:12 we are commanded to “honor thy father and thy mother” (italics added). To love is to show devotion, compassion, service, gratitude, kindness, and reverence. Love is found throughout the scriptures. In John 3:16 we read, “For God so Toved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (italics added). And in 1 John 4:20- 21 we read, “If a man say, I fove God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that foveth not his brother, whom he hath seen, how can he Jove God, whom he hath not seen? And this ‘commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God Jove his brother also” (italics added). Love is the foundation for peace and righteousness in this life and for salvation in the life hereafter. Page 1 of 1
