Course Description: Introductory course into the agricultural classroom. Throughout this class you will
learn basic skills to help you within the agriculture industry.

Course Objectives:

Students will demonstrate the ability to speak in public using speeches within the classroom
with at least 85% accuracy.
Students will appreciate the basic level of skills demonstrated to them within the classroom and
agricultural opportunities.
Students will appreciate the agricultural lifestyle and involvement needed to keep the lifestyle
thriving.

Students will be proficient in basic agricultural tasks.

Textbook Requirement:

Textbooks will be provided to you if needed.

Classroom Expectations

Students are required to treat the teacher, equipment, and other students within the classroom with
respect. Students will be responsible for bringing their notebook, paper, and pencils to class every day.
Students will hold themselves accountable for their actions and use honesty to explain situations when
they arise. If students are unruly to a point the teacher is unable to control them they will be required to
have a phone call with the parent, student, and teacher. If the situation is not handled after this
confrontation school administration will become involved. Students are required to arrive to class on
time and prepared. Students will be required to complete assignments on time and to the full extent.

Cell phones will not be allowed in class. It is distracting, disrespectful, and potentially allows for
cheating. Unless I specifically ask you to take your phone out for an activity, keep it out of site. You will
lose points each time I see you using your phone in class without permission.

All School rules will apply along with classroom rules. See student handbook for rules if there are any
questions.
Coursework:

Participation: 30%

Homework: 20%

Quizzes: 10%

Tests: 20%

Speeches: 20%

Late Assignments:

I do not accept late work. Failure to turn in any assignment by the date and time its due will result in a
zero on the assignment. Problems with technology is not an excuse for late work, plan for the unplanned
and get the assignment completed before the due date.

The only exception for late work is for an excused absence. The assignment will then be due the day the
student comes back from the excused absence. Students will also be required to make up any quizzes or
tests while being absent within the day of return from an absence.

Attendance and Participation:

Attendance will be recorded daily and participation will be required each class period. Students will be
given three tardies before they will begin affecting the students grade. Each tardy after the third will
take off five points from their daily participation grade.

Each day students will have a do now as they enter the classroom which will count towards their
participation points. Participation is based on the whole class period not just one assignment.

Grading Criteria:

Grades will be assigned according to the following scale:

Percentage Letter Grade

90 - 100% A
80 89.9% B
70 79.9% C
60 69.9% D
0 - <60% F
