Importance Of The English Language

The reasons for learning languages vary. However, everyone agrees that all languages are meant to help
in communication process. In my opinion, its good to be born in a multi-lingual family. It means the
child will grow up knowing several languages. Otherwise, its necessary to learn foreign languages at
school, university or any other institution. The most widespread among foreign languages is
undoubtedly English. When thinking why this old Germanic language is in such great request nowadays,
I find several reasonable answers. First of all, most business fields depend on it. Secondly, its the
accepted language of modern digital era. As reported by recent statistics, almost two billion people
across the world use it regularly. Its the prevalent language in travel and entertainment, in computer
technologies, in medical and pharmaceutical fields, etc. The market for learning English is simply
booming. As I see it, the most significant gate thats open through the knowledge of this international
lingua franca is the gate to career and personal growth. Knowing English is vital in many companies
nowadays, while personal growth is connected with mastering the technological innovations. Its worth
mentioning that almost all digital novelties are launched and exploited mainly with English language
instructions. Thats why employees who speak it freely are welcomed and valued.

The things which make a person educated

Needless to say that there are a lot of things which make a person educated.
I think it necessary that I should tell you about great role of school which primarily participates in
educational process. School gives us good groundings in all school subjects. It brings up a person to love
its Motherland. Its worth saying that we all have got our favourite subjects, and, of course, our teachers
give us all the facts from the course they teach.
School develops independent thinking and independence of character of every schoolchild, helps us to
acquire good habits, teaches us to love native literature and mother tongue. But for reading good books
we wouldnt get a great amount of valuable information, necessary for future life and work. If we didnt
read and didnt attend lessons we wouldnt have a good idea about different places, different people and
their traditions, about different points of view on various matters. Books and school teach us to tell
wrong from right. But not only thanks to them we learn life better.
Magazines and newspapers, different out-of-school activities, such as visiting history circle, literary
society or drama school play an important role in giving people good knowledge.
It would be incorrect to think that only school makes a person educated.
Speaking about the means which help people to become better informed and educated I cant help
saying that TV and radio also give us a lot.
Watching TV or listening to the radio we make the acquaintance with famous performances, splendid
music, films, geographical, historical or literary programs. Of course, you shouldnt forget that sitting
before TV-set for a long time is harmful for schoolchildren but on the whole the role of TV and radio in
educational process is great and nobody can deny it.
Beside that, visiting museums and art galleries, exhibitions and theatres, simple sightseeing or travelling
can be very useful for every boy or girl, if they want to broaden their outlook, to study some subjects
profoundly.
Thus we see that a lot of things make a person educated. Probably, you will have you own opinion and
will find another ways to become more educated, but as for me, the means I have told you about are the
most important and helpful.

Interaction With Parents

Many children, especially teenagers, face the problems of generation gap. Parents want to protect
their children from harm and sometimes go too far. In my opinion, excessive care is not the best
method of education because everyone should make independent decisions and to learn from own
mistakes. Misunderstanding often arise because of generation conflict, adults sometimes dont
understand new tendencies and spirit of the time thats why occur too strict with their children.
To my mind, the best variant is liberal interaction between parents and their children.
Communication is very important in interaction. The ability to ask for advice, to discuss
concerning problems, to find a compromise are valuable qualities of any family. However there
must be certain rules and even prohibitions, because child should know that life is not so easy
and not always there is opportunity to get what you want without any effort.
I was born when my parents were very young, may be, due to it they always understood me and I
tried to understand them. They always help me, I can turn for advice at any time and every day I
share my impressions with them. I think they are not only my parents but my tutors and the
closest friends. Sometimes we have disagreements, at such moments I try to concede because
they are still elder and more experienced so knew much. I love and respect my parents very
much, and I think they have educated a good person.

Weekend
I think, any person loves weekend very much. So I also wait for them all the week. The
previous weekend I spend very merry and interesting. My family and I decided to go to a
picnic. We started to prepare beforehand: father and brother bought the meat for barbecue;
mother and I cooked some salads and pies. On Saturday we woke up not very early at nine
oclock. The day was splendid, the bright sun was shining, puffy clouds were floating, and
cool wind was blowing, freshening the air. The nature was for us. We gathered all
necessary things, food, water and fishing tackle, sat in the car and went to the river. We
took with us our favourite dog Casper. When we came, father chose a place for fishing,
brother went for the sticks to make a fire, mother and I began to lay the table. We were in
a good mood. After having a bite, father went to barbecue but we ran to splash in the
water. Mother learned me to swim, brother dived all the time and showed his ability to
swim on the back, Casper jumped in with water playing with his tail. Later barbecue was
ready and we enjoyed tasty meat. Then we lay in the sun and told each other funny stories,
anecdotes, we laughed and joked. It was fun. Suddenly we heard the bells, father ran to the
fishing rod and began to pull, on the water surface appeared rather big fish. Father gladly
drew out the fish, it was a carp. We took some pictures and went home being joyful and
happy. On the supper we had fish soup from carp. It was the most wonderful weekend.

Where I Want To Travel

I am lucky to have parents who are interested in travelling. Each year we go
somewhere new and exciting. Im only 14, but Ive already been in several
neighboring countries and even in Thailand, which is 9 hours away by plane. One of
the places I really want to visit is Spain. Ive seen many colorful prospects with
Spanish sights and resorts, which look hyper attractive to me. Its not very far from
our country, but still it is a five-hour flight from Moscow. My parents dont mind.
They say that one day well go there. As there are many resorts and culturally rich
cities in Spain, we need to choose where we want to go. After all we decided that
Barcelona is the best city for us. First of all, its a well-known beach resort. At the
same time, its the second largest city in the country, which means there are lots of
primary sights there. One of the objects that Id like to see is the Magic Fountain of
Montjuic. As far as I know this attraction offers an outstanding light and music
show. My younger brother wants to visit the Barcelona Aquarium which houses
more than 10 thousand sea animals. There is even a separate tank for sharks and
other large fish. My mums dream is to see the collection of Picassos early works at
the most famous museum of Barcelona. My fathers wish is to visit the Camp Nou.
Its the largest football stadium in Spain. And finally, we all want to walk across the
famous La Rambla - the most popular street in the city, which is always full of
tourists and locals.

Globalization
Globalization is something than we cant see but we can feel the effects of it.
Its a process of interaction among the people, companies and governments of
different countries. We can feel globalization almost everywhere nowadays.
People eat American fast-food, wear Italian shoes and Mexican shirts, drive
Japanese cars and listen to Korean music. Generally speaking, globalization is
a blend of cultures. Some people think that its a new process. In fact,
globalization existed even during Middle Ages, when people decided to trade
goods with merchants from distant countries. Since 1980, it has begun to
move at a faster pace. Today globalization is at its peak. There are, of course,
some advantages and disadvantages of this process. The best thing is that
people can buy and sell whatever they want from every corner of our planet.
Internet has made it easier. People enjoy the variety of choice and prices.
Globalization also gives an opportunity to learn more about culture of other
nations. Countries focus on what they can do better instead of making bad-
quality products. For example, Belgium is good at agriculture and producing
fine chocolate but it doesnt produce cars. Thus, they can buy cars from
Germany or France. Another advantage of globalization is the growth of
international companies. They can open affiliates in different countries and
create additional workplace for local people. The first issue on the list of
disadvantages that globalization has brought is the pollution of the
environment. The building of new harmful factories has resulted into
considerable environmental problems. Another disadvantage is the fact that
globalization gradually destroys cultural identity. Its especially obvious when
European people try to impose their traditions and customs on Asian nations.
And last but not the least: domestic producers also suffer. They find it difficult
to sell their produce when people buy everything on international market.
