AUTHORIZED VISA

English Information

According to the current regulations, based on the Executive Decree No. 248 of July 21st 2009,
which dictates that any person regarding his or her nationality, holding a valid visa of the
following countries:

1). - United States of America,


2). - Australia,
3). - Canada,
4). - United Kingdom, or
5). - Any of the States conforming the European Union,

That has been previously used to enter the issuing country at least once and still valid (not a
transit visa), is allowed entry to Panama without having a stamped visa. The duration of stay
under this decree is granted for 30 days, which can be extended at the Immigration Offices in
Panama City
If you do not fulfil the above-mentioned requirement, you need to apply for an Authorized Visa.
This means you can apply trough the Consulate of Panama based in Pretoria South Africa. We
will receive the visa fee and issue the correspondent receipts. We take 5 working days to process
your application form (pre-analysis) and if everything is in order we send the documentation to
the Authorized Visa Section of the National Immigration Service. If it is missing one
requirement, we will not be able to start the process. The waiting period for the approval is
approximately one month if everything is correct. If the Security Council requests more
information it could take up to two months.

Instructions: Filling in the Application form

The applicant must carefully read the form. Do not delete, nor scratch out anything. Do not leave
blank spaces. In the instance that a question does not apply to you, write Not Applied (N/A).
Please fill in the application with handwriting using a Black Ink Pen.

The application form must be presented with the following documents:

Note that a sworn translator must translate all the requirements into Spanish. If the proof of
solvency is a bank statement, you have to ask for a letter of the equivalent balance in US Dollars
(head letter) from your bank. Also, if you do not have the original copy, you must present a
certified copy with a Notary that the document is a true copy of the original.

Requirements:

2X 2 Picture (Passport size) on a light background. (The person must be facing front, with an
uncovered face. For religious purposes, only garments covering the head will be allowed).

A legible passport copy, or of any valid document for travelling, which includes from cover to
cover (every page of the passport without exception).

A compared copy of the residence card, or the citizen identification card from the country where
he/she lives (please note that just an official document issued by a Public Institution of the
Government will be accepted, and if you dont present the original you need a certified copy).

Planned trip schedule

A proof of economic solvency for support, or for maintenance, according to the permanency in
the country, which cannot be less than B/ 500.00 (Five hundred balboas) per month or fraction,
which can be credited with one, or several of the following documents:

Certified cheques, or money orders in the name of the person requesting the visa
Travelers cheques in the applicants name.
Applicants bank certification with bank statements from last three months
Applicants credit cards with bank statements from last three months
Income declaration from last fiscal year, or an equivalent
Any other reasonable means, accepted by the National Immigration Service, to prove the source
of incomes.
Depending on the profession, or trade, the applicant may supply:
If an employee from a private, or a governmental institution: a letter from such institution,
acknowledging the position, with last cheque stubs, or credentials as an independent trader.
If the applicant is retired, or is on a pension, documentation acknowledging such pension, or
retirement, with the respective cheque stubs.
If a student (of eighteen years old, or more), a certification from the study center, indicating the
courses the student is taking, and the period of studies.
If an economical independent person, a sworn declaration of the responsible relative, assuming
responsibilities for traveling expenses, maintenance during the trip, and the proof of economic
solvency.

Copy of previous visas, or permissions, approved by Panamanian immigratory authorities (if


any),

A confirmed hotel reservation

Sworn declaration from the inviting person (if applicable), and if it does, it can be done through:

Temporary, or permanent residents, or Panamanian citizens, from Panama: attaching the


following documents, according to each case:
Copy of national identification card (in force)
If the responsible person is a foreign national, a copy of the passport, and resident identification
card, general information.
Copy of payment receipt for public utilities, acknowledging the home address of the responsible
person.
If the responsible person is a public, or a private, entity:
A note of responsibility from the private, or governmental, institution legal representative (If a
college, or university, such note must be signed by the Principal, the General Secretary, or the
equivalent
If the responsible person is a private entity, attach the following documents
Certification from the Public Registry
Copy of the announcement for operations
Copy of the document approving operations in the Colon Free Trade Zone (if applicable)
A certification from the Foundation for the City of Knowledge, or similar, acknowledging the
actual existence of the educational center (if applicable)
A copy of the payment receipt for public utilities, giving proof of the location of the responsible
company. In case the receipt is in the name of a third party, supply a copy of the renting
contract.)

In cases of point b.2, those who are inviting, and are responsible, must supply a constancy about
the economic solvency, through any of the following documents:
A bank certification, valid for a minimum of three months
Income declaration with document of good standing
A letter of employment, and the social security stub (if he/she is a natural person)
If paying for the guests expenses, present a sworn declaration assuming responsibilities for
lodging, and for repatriation if needed.

Note: The tourist visa may be extended in cases the National Immigration Service considers it
convenient, add for a term of time not greater than sixty (60) additional days, but under ninety
(90) days, with the exception of restrictions established by law.

The Visa Fee: The Visa Fee is R/1,1445.00 Rands (ZAR) but it may change depending on the
currency exchange rate of the day that you submit your application.

N.B. If you are doing an international transfer please advise your bank that the amount of
R/1,445.00 (ZAR) must be deposited into our account without any banking deduction for the
transfer. Deposit the fee one day before or the same day of your appointment to submit your visa
application.

Conditions of the stamped Visa on arrival at Panama Airport:

. Provide, upon request of the immigration authorities, valid travel passport and valid entry visa

. Have sufficient funds to cover their expenses while in Panamanian territory, which were
established as follows:
U.S. $500.00 cash or credit card, that proves to be more than $500.00. (Bank statements of the
credit card)

I certify that I have read and understood all questions in this request, and that answers I have
given in this form are correct, to the best of my knowledge and comprehension. I understand that
any false, or dubious, can produce, as a result, a permanent denial of the visa or my entrance to
Panama. I understand that having a visa does not guarantee the bearer the right of entrance to
the Republic of Panamas, when arriving to a port of entrance, it is determined I does not have
such right.
