RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Pear Deck is an interactive PowerPoint for use in class. Instructors can righter create a PowerPoint and import it to Pear Deck or
create a presentation in Pear Deck. In class students join the presentation so that they can engage and participate via their own
technological device. Students can do things like draw graphs, answer questions, let the teacher know if they are confused, and
many more things simply by responding on their own device. The teacher can make sure the responses are anonymous and show
them to them class, or show specific responses to the class also anonymously.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PRESENTATION
How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote students presentation/speaking/communication skills?

I think that Pear Deck can be utilized in any class presentation to take it from a boring lecture to an engaging class! All that a
teacher needs to do is import their already made presentation into pear deck and start presenting. In a math class, students can
be asked to draw the graph of a function on the graph within the presentation on their device and then the instructor is able to
display their responses to the class. This is great for students to see their own mistakes and learn from others, and to increase
engagement because students need to be responding within the application as the material is presented.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

Pear Deck would be rated as a 3. It increases engagement completely! Students would normally just be sitting in their desks
taking notes, but now they are required to respond directly to the teacher in real time without leaving their desks! It aligns with
the standards because the instructor is simply taking a lesson which was already in line with standards and adding the interaction
of the students. Having students work within the presentation also increases mastery because they are getting immediate
feedback.
