Q. What happens when it rains?

Ans: When it rains the droplets first falls onto the leaves at the top, and eventually
make their way down to the lower leaves. Leaves on the top after quenching their
thirst pass on the drops to the lower leaves. The falling of raindrops on leaves
creates a "sweet noise".

Q. What sight is lovely after the rain stops?

Ans: When the sun comes out after the rain stops, the sun fills each dark, round
drop present on the leaves with its wondrous light. The sight of shinning raindrops
which also forms rainbow is soothing to eyes and heart. It gives peace of mind and
happiness.

Q. What does the poet mean when he says that rich leaves on the top give the poor
beneath drops of water?

Ans: The poet wanted to show that our society works in the same way as the
nature works, the leaves at the top of the plant which are first benefited from the
rain water, represent the rich people in society, whereas the leaves in the bottom
part of tree, represents the poor, which gets the rain water from top leaves after
they quench their thirst.

Q. Death spells freedom from all mortal fears. What are the specific fears referred
to by Shakespeare in the poem?

Ans: The poet refers to the fear of scorching suns heat, wild rage of chilly winters, sensation
of being insulted, consequences of the displeasure caused to the powerful and the rulers,
the lightning in the sky and the dreaded hailstorms.

Q. Death is the ultimate leveler of all differences in human society. Discuss how the
poem represents the idea.

Ans: The poem tells that when death approaches, and it will, the rich and the poor, the
powerful kings, scholars, physicians and people engaged in different kinds of works, no
matter what their caste, color or creed is, they will have to meet the dust. Even the lovers
who have immortal love in their hearts will have no escaping from the death.

Q. Discuss the central idea conveyed by the poem.

Ans: The poem conveys the idea of the inevitable law of nature i.e. "all men are mortal or
death will swallow each and every one of us. It tells about its the unbiased justice to men
and women of any caste, society, occupation. It is a final release from all the earthly ties,
emotions, needs and sorrows of life.

Q. Do you think the title of this poem is apt? Why?

Ans: Yes, I think the title of the poem is apt because the poem is about the freedom after
death from all the fears and problems that one faces in his/her life .In a requiem, people
recall of all the good deeds one did during his/her lifetime that brings a form of satisfaction
and creates a positive environment even after death, similarly this poem is about leaving
away all the discomforts and fears and accepting the death to be free from all sorrows of
life.

Q. Explain: a. 'fear no more the frown. .. is as the oak'. b. Fear not slander. .. and
come to dust.'

Ans: a. The poet says that there is no need to be afraid of the anger of the mighty as death
takes one away from the reach of the cruelty of heartless oppressor. All the necessities like
clothing and eating or the small and big needs are not be cared anymore.

b. The poet says that don't be afraid of people speaking ill of you and behaving in a bad
manner as after death you'll be beyond the feelings of happiness and sorrows.

Ans: Knowing your audience will help you streamline your research, shape your key
message, select the most appropriate details ,and adapt your words more appropriately.

Ans: The messages that cross the desk of people leaving them scratching their heads
because of their redundant remarks, incomplete ideas and unclear instruction are referred
to as "so what" messages by the author.

message?

Ans: In a message there are different areas of interests for different kinds of people, so in
order to bring one's message into everyone's attention one needs to communicate with the
entire audience.

concerned?

Ans: Management will most likely be concerned with issues reading profit projections, a
project's overall significance to the company, corporate image concerns, and necessary next
steps in execution of that plan.

Q. What are the issues that matter to general professionals?

Ans: General professionals will be more concerned with the day-to-day matters, why the
project is undertaken, how the research is carried out, how the policy will be re-evaluated,
and what specific part they play.

Ans: Specialists are interested in information required to do a specific job such as statistics,
forms, flow charts, maps, formulas, and other things generally included in the "fine print."

Ans: One should avoid meaningless or repetitive details because telling the same things or
things that are obvious, causes deviation from the sole topic and hence drives the listeners
focus away and bores them.

Q. Why should one avoid using jargons?

Ans: Jargons causes people out of the speaker's work field, face problems in catching the
points and important concepts and thus leading to misunderstanding of or deviation from
the topic.

Q. How can one give priority to readers' interests?

Ans: Put the most important information for the most important reader up front. Lesser
ranking readers would have to read further to get the details they want.

Q. How should one organize the structure of a presentation?

Ans: During a presentation, one should give a broad scope of the discovery and its
significance on them. They should also provide them answers to all the if's, and's, what's
and how's, and present your case persuasively and in less complicated words to win
cooperation.

Q. What was unusual about the tea party?

Ans: In This tea party everything was unusual, be it the characters or their way of
living/talking or their deeds. Wine was served in this tea-party and though they had
excessive or plenty of space around the table but they were sitting in the corner. Watch was
repaired using butter and then dipping in the tea to remove bread crumbs. Time was also
personified here.

Q. How did the March Hare repair the watch?

Ans: The narrator introduced a strange watch/clock which belonged to hatter.But that was
not working properly so in order to repair the watch, March Hare had put the best butter
into the watch. But when it still showed wrong time Hatter grumbled on him that some
crumbs might have got in as well because he used bread-knife to put it. So to calibrate it
properly,he then dipped the watch into the tea.

Ans: The author used the word draw in two ways. The first 'draw' meant to make
something or scribble and the other was to pull out or bring out.

Ans: Time is denoted by capital T because it refers to a character meaning that it is


personified.

Q. Why did the Hatter ask to move one place on?

Ans: The Hatter asked to move one place on he wanted a clean cup of tea.
