From: Patrick H. West, City Managet
Subject: CITY SALARIES IN THE NEWS:
The Long Beach Business Journal (LBB4) will publish its annual “$100,000 Club”
article in its next issue. Like we have done in prior years, we worked closely with
George Economides to provide him with the most accurate information possible.
Recognizing that you may be asked to comment upon this matter, we offer the:
information below and attached charts for your reference.
Information
* The salary amounts reported to the LBBJ were derived by multiplying the
employee's hourly rate as of August 1, 2010 by 2,088 hours.
* Salary amounts for Police and Fire Department employees include skill pays,
but do not include overtime.
+ No merit increases or general increases were given to management staff
under the City Manager's authority in FY 09, nor are any proposed in FY 10.
+ The number of positions and associated salaries reflected in the “$100,000 &
Higher’ and “90,000 to $99,999" lists vary from year to year due to a variety of
reasons, including retirements, new hires, promotions, budget reductions,
negotiated salary increases, etc.
