CHAPTER 7 Failures and necessary measures (or check of each PWBs, refer to drawings in chapter 5) ‘The system's operating state is always being monitored by the built-in CPU. ‘This chapter describes necessary measures for each abnormality item (referring to each error code). For the system checking, pay special attention to electrical shock, and do not perform other than described as checking items because it may cause a secondary failure. Also refer to Chapter 6 of this manual, describing about other necessary measures. Please refer to the Ertor Code Table for about the error code indication and the detailed ceror code for users. * Note * 1. Whenever replacement of fuse and PWB, and confirmation of the wire connections are performed, certainly disconnect the applied power supply at the source of the distribution panel. 2. When checking work is started, normally the power switch of the operating panel is turned to "OFF". However, even if the power switch was tuned to "OFF", the rotor continues to rotate for about 30 minutes due to its inertia, Accordingly, do not try to tum the phantom ring, tilt the horizontal ring or swing them immediately after the power switch is turned to "OFF" Tt may cause a fatal failure to the sensitive element. 3. Whenever the primary of the POWER PWE is checked by an oscilloscope, insulate the power supply of the oscilloscope from that of the gyro-compass. Without insulation it may cause damage of the POWER PWB. 4. When the MCU PWB is replaced, mount the PWB so that "photo (Circuit number U15)" is surely passed through the zero-cross pin. Also confirm that the photo interrupter does not touch the connector of the STMD PWB. ‘And perform re-setting of the zero-cross azimuth bearing according to “test mode 2" (in item 4.2 of Chapter 4) after the replacement work of the MCU PWB. termupter ea SAAS NT RN as SIT) This alarm is detected by the CPU (ie. (However, itis not alarmed when SCU PWB SW2-4: ON (performance index check is off.) (@) When "VIG" has not been received for more than 17 sec. from the serial data contents. 7-12 @) When the both of "GGA" and "GL" have not been received for more than 17 sec. from the serial data contents, (4) When the checksum did not match, However, itis not alarmed when "checksum not function” was set in the Extended Menu 2. This alarm is cancelled by the following. (1) When the GPS serial signal is recovered. (2) When "ship's speed” or “latitude” was changed in the input system, and the true bearing (indicated by flashing) was determined ‘The system corrects its speed error based on the previous values of "ship's speed” and “latitude” just immediately before the abnormality and continues running. * On the procedure to receive the GPS serial signal ‘The "GGA" protocol data is received with priority when the both "GGA" and "GL" are inputted where "GPS" is selected in the latitude input system. However, "GLL" protocol is automatically received when "GGA" protocol was lost for more than 3 sec. from the input data. Then, if the "GGA" protocol is recovered, "GGA" protocol started to be received immediately. [Necessary measures] (Q) Confirm that the GPS is functioning properly. At this time, confirm the output data signal from the GPS by using a protocol analyzer, et. (2) Tum the power switch to OFF and leave for more than 30 min. as itis. @) Confirm the connection between the GRXH/GRXL of the external lines terminal board TB7 of the TERM PWB in the control box (unit) and the GPS.
