DOMAIN 2: THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

COVENANT MANAGEMENT: Relationship & community building

I will be seeking to understand my students with questions and prompts. I will always encourage
students to work and share ideas with partners. Additionally asking them to take charge of their own
learning.

CONDUCT MANAGEMENT:
Identify at least 2 ways you will gain whole group attention: Counting backwards
Zero voices hand signal
Strategies you intend to use to redirect individual students: Physical proximity

DOMAIN 3: INSTRUCTION

CONTENT MANAGEMENT: THE LESSON

Motivation/Opening/Intro:

Weve been talking a lot about the water cycle this week and today we are going to finish up
our notes as well as talking about how we could summarize these important points from each
step!

First thing this morning is that we are going to watch a video about the steps of the water
cycle. This is a song, were going to watch it three times. The first time I want you to just sit
back and listen. The second time you will be filling out a sheet with lyrics from the song! The
third time we will be singing the song all together.

Play video three times while doing hands actions with kiddos.
Do song final time with motions: Water cycle - circle in air with right hand : Evaporation -
hands going up like water vapor : Condensation - make a cloud with two hands in C shape
moving them together : Precipitation - hands moving down like rainfall

After we finish the second time go through and fill in missing blanks as a class.

Lets all stand up and do the song together!

Development:

Have students pull out note booklets and a pencil. As we are talking teacher will be filling in
blanks on the projector.

After precipitation we have two final steps included in our water cycle. These include
collection and run off. After precipitation falls to the earth it collects. This water goes into
lakes rivers and streams.

Pull out a glass of water and a shallow bucket. Pour water into glass. Eventually the glass will
begin to overflow.

Just like with this glass, that water that collects eventually overflows. It moves over land and
moves into different bodies of water, entering rivers and streams! All water eventually ends up
in our oceans!

Closure:

Now weve spent a lot of time talking about these different steps of the water cycle. Your exit
ticket today is to color and fill out this diagram of each step in our water cycle!

Today we learned about two more steps of the water cycle. Collection and run off. This is
what happens to our water after it falls back to earth!

Students fill out and colour their diagrams. Including four of the steps we discussed. They will
be saving these to reference tomorrow!
