THE EFFECTIVVITY OF FREEZE AMNIOTIC MEMBRANE IN REPAIRING

RUPTURE TENDON ON RABBIT

R. A. Hussein Fachruddin

Abstract

Background: Tendon is a conneting structure between muscle and bone which is important as
musculoskeletal component. There is a peritendinous adhesion formed as result of deposit
fibroblasts and inflamatory cells in rupture tendon. As an internal membran which wraps any
component beneath, amniotic membrane has a function to inhibit the proliferation of fibroblast.
Those content of the amniotic membrane could prevent the formation of peritendinous adhesion
in tendon healing. This research was designed to determine the effectivity of freeze amniotic
membrane usage in preventing the adhesion in tendon healing process.

Method: This research was held as an experimental study with pre and post test controled-group
design, during March until October 2017, in Animal ware Sriwijaya University and Anatomical
Patology Laboratory, Palembang. This study was conducted by case control approach among 34
rabbits. The effectivity of freeze amniotic membrane as prevention of adhesion in tendon healing
process was analyzed by paired T Test and or Wilcoxon Test whereas, the comparison between
case and control group was analyzed by Mann Whitney Test, using SPSS 18.0 version.

Results: According to this research, there is the different amount of fibrolasts before and after
intervention in case group (p = 0,000) and control group (p = 0,000). Besides, there is the
different amount of fibroblasts after intervention in both group (p = 0,000) which the amount of
fibroblasts in the group using freeze amniotic membrane is lower than the group without
amniotic membrane usage.

Conclusion: It has been considered that the usage of freeze amniotic membrane is effective in
preventing the adhesion in tendon healing process.
