1. Purpose

The purpose of these method statements to provide general guidelines for the repairing of damaged
GRP Chilled water pipe line at Jumeirah Lake Tower - Cluster B @ Building B 3.
2. Scope
Scope of this method statement covers the a l l t h e a c t i v i t i e s f o r t h e r e p a i r i n g o f
damaged GRP chilled water pipeline at Jumeriah Lake Tower - Cluster B3 .
It applies to all employees and contractor.

The activities for the repairing of the damaged GRP chilled water pipeline at Jumeirah Lake Tower-
Cluster B @ building B3 are as follows :-

1.Site surveying for locating the location of CHW line.

2.Safety arrangements prior to excavation at the location.

3.Excavation for clearing out the CHW line (Both manual and mechanical).

4.Reparing of the GRP Chilled water line.

5.Shifting of chambers using lifting equipment(JCB/Excavator/Carne).

6.Backfilling of the excavated area and the reinstatement of the properties back to initial condition.

Brief description of the above-mentioned activities are provided in the procedure section of this method
statement

3. Responsibilities
3.1 Project Manager

The project manager is responsible for ensuring the excavation, protection of existing services
replacing of damaged GRP chilled water line and back filling are carried out as per the approved
GRP and Client Engineers satisfaction.

3.2 Site Engineer

Identify the resources required to carry out the work safely according to the specification and
programmed and arrange the same in advance. Properly organize the team and plan the work

as per the approved method statement and drawing. Coordinate with client, consultant for the
timely inspection and approval of works executed at site. Make sure about the required NOC
and other permission from authorities and available before commencing the actual works.

3.3 Site Foreman

Execute the works as per the specification, drawing and approved method statement.
Coordinate with engineer for any clarification or doubts while execution the works. Supervise
the crew for carrying out the works without mistakes and make sure about the achievement of
daily progress. Adequate safety measures should be implemented at the work site during all
time.

3.4 Safety Officer

Safety officer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in place, carry out tool
box talks, ensure that people are aware of hazards involved and PPE are worn on all time.

4. Coordination with client

Site engineer is making daily report of site activities and Co-ordinate with client engineer.
5. Procedure

5.1 General Requirements

5.1.1 All material received at site shall be inspected and approved in accordance with
Material Inspection Request form.
5.1.2 All Excavation / Construction/ Lamination / Testing/ back filling works shall be carry
out in compliance with Safety Manual
5.1.3 Verification of Inspection, check lists and test shall be witnessed, recorded and singed
as defined in attached form by QA/QC Client Engineer.
5.2 Barricades
Providing barricades and ramps where ever necessary to ensure smooth flow of traffic by
providing warning signs, lights and traffic management system to ensure safety near the work
area

5.3 Hand excavation/pipe removal

5.3.1 Carry out the earth excavation by hand up to 2.00 m depth/up to existing services.
Protect the existing services by suitable supports and will continue the further excavation
using mechanical equipment (JCB).
5.3.2 Drilling and fixing of de watering pipes.
5.3.3 Protect the excavation area by proper shoring.
5.3.4 Excavate the earth up to the GRP Pipe. Clean the Pipe surface. Remove the Jacket pipe
by cutting with hand grinder.
5.3.5 Carry out the coring of chamber wall to remove the damaged pipe.
5.3.6 Remove the core pipe by cutting with hand grinder.
5.4 GRP Pipe Repairing.
5.4.1 Take the site measurement for GRP spool piece.
5.4.2 Align the Spool piece asper the site measurement.
5.4.3 Laminate the Joints by qualified GRP Laminator.
5.4.4 Leave the lamination to cure
5.4.5 Make hole in the new jacket ring and fill the foam mixer through the hole to ensure that the
cavity between the new jacket ring and the core lamination is filled with foam.
5.5 Shifting of Chamber using JCB
5.5.1. Shifting of chamber is carry out by using proper belt.
5.5.2 Lift the chamber using JCB keeping near the excavation.
5.5.3 Lifting height only less than 1 meter from ground.
5.5.4 Weight of chamber -less than 500kg.
5.5.5 Make proper access to the JCB
5.6 Back filling
5.5.6 Back fill the area by excavated sand up to 25 cm
5.5.7 Compact the layer
5.5.8 Continue this process up to the ground level

5.7 Working Hours

The Working hours will be 24hours, 6 days a week due to the urgency of work,which will include
one-hour lunch break and two refreshment breaks.

7 Safety Instruction.
During the Installation all measures shall be adopted to ensure safe working.

Client site management system shall be implemented.

All personnel involved shall use necessary PPE.

All equipment will be inspected by competent person prior to use.

Access and egress will be maintained with good housekeeping will be maintained.

Fire extinguishers will be available at all time where applicable.

All activities at height will be provided with suitable working platform.

Waste management should be strictly followed to keep the job site neat and clean.

8 Execution period
We will complete the repairing within 15 days (10/6/2017 to 25/6/2017) as per the program plan.
