Course Description
Health and Physical Education is an essential and basic part of the total education
program. It is a process that contributes to the total development of every student through health
education and physical activity and recognizes the physical, mental, emotional and social
characteristics of students. The Health and Physical Education program provides a variety of
experiences to help all students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to function
effectively in society.

Objectives:
The student will be able to demonstrate competence in motor skills and movement
patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities at their given level.
The student will be able to apply knowledge of the structures and functions of the body
and how they relate to and are affected by human movement to learning and developing
motor skills and specialized movement forms at their given level.
The student will be able to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of personal
fitness.
The student will be able to demonstrate the aptitude, attitude, and skills to lead
responsible, fulfilling, and respectful lives.
The student will be able to demonstrate necessary social skills for communicating and
working with others.
The student will be able to explain the importance of energy balance and nutritional
needs of the body to maintain optimal health and prevent chronic disease at their given
level.

Rules
1. When you hear the whistle stop, look, and listen.
2. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
3. Use all equipment the way it is meant to be used.
4. Keep your hands to yourself.
5. Try your best!

Consequences
First Offense- Warning
Second Offense- In class consequence determined by the teacher
Third Offense- Meeting with teacher outside of class
Fourth Offense- Meeting with the principle
Fifth Offense- A call/and or meeting with parents
Procedures
Entering the Classroom
When entering the classroom you should go and have a seat on your spot and wait for the
directions from the teacher.

Exiting the Classroom


When leaving the classroom you should form a single file line and enter the hallway quietly,
respecting other teachers and students who are having class.

Absences
In the event of an absence, you should turn in any doctor's notes or notes from home to the
teacher.

Illness/Injury
In the event of an illness, injury, or any other proper reason as to why you should not participate
in physical education ,please turn in a doctors note or a note from home explaining your
illness/injury and how long you will need to be dismissed from physical education.

Using the Restroom/ Water fountain


If you need to use the restroom or need to get a drink of water make sure you ask permission
before doing so. This will ensure I know where all students are at any given time.

Proper Dress
Students are not required to dress out, but wearing tennis shoes will help to ensure proper
support of the foot and will help to reduce the chances of injury. If you do not own a pair of
tennis shoes, please let me know. The school system or contributing partners may be able to
provide you a pair.

Grading
The grade you receive for this class will be determined by the amount of effort you give during
class time. Following directions and trying your best every day will result in the highest possible
grade.
It is important to note that this document is subject to change or modification during the
semester.

These rules and procedures will be reviewed with your child during the first week of school
and practiced throughout the year. Each student is therefore expected to adhere to the
above rules and procedures. Below is a section for you and your child to sign and date
indicating that you both understand the class expectations for physical education. If you
have any questions concerning this document please contact me as soon as possible.
