b. Summary: This book goes over the water cycle. It follows a raindrop who is going
through the water cycle. This book also explains the importance of water for
nature and animals.

2. Planet Earth: Flip the Flaps


a. Author: Mike Goldsmith; Illustrator: Nicki Palin
b. Summary: This is an informative book that is also interactive. It goes all the
layers of the Earth, from the atmosphere all the way to the core. It also goes
over its rotation around the sun, among other things. The flaps answer questions
asked in the text and show the reader what it looks like.

3. Leo Geo and His Miraculous Journey Through the Center of the Earth
a. Author and Illustrator: Jon Chad
b. Summary: This is a comic type book that follows Leo Geo on an adventure
through the Earth. This book is a fun way to learn the layers of the Earth, and
what they are made of.

4. Landforms
a. Author: Mary Linden
b. Summary: This a nonfiction book explaining the different type of landforms and
how they are created. It goes over mountains, lakes, plains, valleys, etc.

5. Shapes in the Sky: A Book About Clouds


a. Author: Josepha Sherman Illustrator: Omarr Wesley
b. Summary: This book explains the different types of clouds and how to tell them
apart.

6. Oh Say Can You Say Whats the Weather Today?


a. Author: Tish Rabe Illustrator: Aristides Ruiz
b. Summary: This is a Dr. Suess inspired book that follows the Cat in the hat and his
friends. They travel in a hot air balloon and experience many different weather
conditions (rain, snow, tornadoes, etc.) This book talks about different ways to
measure weather and explains some other weather related material (fog, smog,
humidity, etc.)

7. The Atmosphere
a. Author: Jason Nemeth
b. Summary: This book explains Earths atmosphere. It goes over the gases that
make it up, the different layers, how it makes the Earth livable, how its
changing, etc.
8. This is my Continent
a. Author: Lisa Bullard Illustrator: Paula Becker
b. Summary: This book goes over the continents. It follows a young boy and his
babysitter, who travel to all 7 continents. The boy learns about each continents
climate, culture, and geography.

9. Why is the Sea Salty?: And Other Questions About Oceans


a. Author: Ben Richmond Illustrator: Cecelia Azhderian
b. Summary: This books answers some common questions about oceans. It goes
over tides, how deep the ocean is, the water cycle, animals in the ocean, etc.

10. Planet Earth/ Inside Out


a. Author: Gail Gibbons
b. Summary: This book explains Earth; how it was created, what its made of, how
the continents came about, etc. It goes over the layers and what is found on the
Earths surface.
