Primary Source Documents

The Solar System Displayed- This document is a diagram of the planets around the
sun. There also several other components included such as the zodiac signs, orbit
periods, and diameter periods. My entire unit is about the solar system therefore
this primary source can be included in several ways. This chart can serve as a great
visual for students to see where each planet is in correlation with each other. Also
this could be used to compare the sizes and structure of the planets. Next to Jupiter
there is a scale of Mars, Earth, Venus, Mercury, and Earths moon. This can allow
students to compare where we live with how large the other planets are.

The Solar System- This is another chart of the solar system that focuses on different
aspects such as the seasons, eclipses, theory of tides, phases of the moon, the
different moons of the planets and the mariners compass. There are also many uses
of this primary source throughout my unit. This can be used as a reference for a
lesson on the phases of the moon, studying the different moons of the planets, the
planets placement, or doing a lesson on the seasons. This is overall an excellent
reference for so many lessons.
The Solar System with the orbits of the 5 remarkable comets- This document is
another chart of the solar system however this has a great addition: the orbits of the
comets. Within my lessons, I would like to incorporate more abnormal aspects such
as learning about comets. They dont appear often, however this is a subject that
would both interest them and be a great source of information especially for when
they appear. I would incorporate this document in a lesson about comets; during
this lesson I would like students to figure out when the next comet will appear for us
to see.
