Abstract
First, Activated carbon with material water hyacinth
(Eichhornia crassipes) carbonized. Variations temperature
300oC, 500oC, and 700oC with holding time 2 hours. Then, the
charcoal produced is mixed with 1:2 mass ratio of KOH to
chemically activated at 80oC with time for 4 hours. Futhermore,
physical activation done with variation temperature 300oC and
500oC with time lasting for 2 hours.
Materials were characterized by using a test (XRD),
(SEM), (BET), and (Iodine number). Results of SEM and XRD in
activation of physics 500oC shows more perfect crystals with
particle sizes of activated carbon powder is 1.64 to 21.95 m,
0.73 m thickness. XRD highest peak point generated
(29.42249oC) with diameter of 277.294 mm. Chemical bonds are
formed and C8,C, and K2CO3. Physicals activation temperature of
500oC with iodine number (430.70 mg/g). Beside physicals
activation temperature of 300oC with BET (331,539 m2/g).
