Introduction

In this semester, I will plan to improve my teaching style by planning and applying the Personal

Development Plan (PDP) goals to see the results which will be reflected on the way I teach in the

classroom during TP. As a students teacher, I have some weaknesses in the way I teach. Therefore,

Ive decide to choose 3 PDP goals according to what I want to focus and improve in order to

achieve them successfully which will develop my teaching style and skills. my PDP goals are as

the following:

Goal 1: Developing classroom management techniques:

I will develop classroom management techniques for misbehavior children. I choose this goal

because in my pervious teaching practice I faced some difficulties and also I want to gain their

attention during circle time since many of them can easily be distracted and misbehave. This goal

will be easy to achieve because children will be attention to my action when I use one of the

techniques. therefore, the misbehavior children will not disrupt other children in the carpet.

I will apply this goal by using some techniques and method that help me to manage children

in the circle time such as:

o Using signal language: eye contact clapping my hands raising my hand

whenever they misbehave

o Changing my voice level.

o Using eyes on me technique: I will say 1,2,3 eyes on me and the children

will say 1,2,3 eyes on you.

o Physical activity: if all students were so hyper active, I will ask them to jump 10

times.

These techniques have to be introduced for children in order to let them know that they have

to be attention. Moreover, it is long term goal. So, I will spend every day starting from week 2 to

the last week in TP. I will ask my MST and the teachers about their techniques that impact on

children with misbehavior in the carpet. Also, I will ask for their suggestion about my techniques

by how to improve them.

For this goal I will use 2 different ways of recording the data. I will take notes whether if these

techniques work well on children. Then, I will measure the achievement from week 1 until week

6. Thus, the results on how childrens behavior change will show me if I success in achieving this

goal. I will compare my MST and MCT feedback when they will give me the report observation

as well.

Goal 2: Teaching the lesson for no more than 10 minutes:

I will teach the children less than 10 minutes rather than spending a lot of time in the carpet

since children capacity will be less concentrating and they will be bored so they will not acquire

the knowledge which will make them distracted. This goal may be challengeable to achieve

because it is difficult to cover the main significant points of the lesson in just 10 minutes. So, I

will be wise about what content and information I should deliver for children in less than 10

minutes.

I will introduce the main knowledge of the lesson. Thus, children will have the main

background about the lesson. Also, I will include asking question techniques to make sure all

children participate.

This goal has to be applied everyday starting from week 2 until week 6. During this time, I will

ask my MST for help by reminding me about the time during my teaching in the circle time. She

can warn me if I took more than 10 minutes teaching.

I will use my lesson plan as an evidence since I will plan how and what I will teach in 10

minutes. Also, my MST feedback will show me if I spend less than 10 minutes in teaching and if

I cover the main points of the subject for children.

Goal 3: Improving the interaction with children:

I will interact with children and develop my relationship with them because I believe that if I

build a positive relationship with the child that will help me in identifying childrens learning style

and interest which will help me in planning my lessons. This may be difficult goal to achieve

because in government school the number of students in the classroom is huge. So, I will make

sure to be contact with all of them in this short time.

I will able this goal by:

o Communicate with children outside the school through their parents.

o Spending time outside the classroom like in the playground and lunch time.

o Asking them about their life. I believe if I ask children about their own life

based on showing them Im interested, that will make them feel that they are value

when they notice that someone care about them.

I will apply this goal starting from day 2 to the last day in TP. I will ask my MST about

childrens characteristic and interest since I want to know each child personality and that will help

me to improve my interaction and communication.

Page | 7

I will use 2 different ways of recording. The first one is observing children behavior and

performance will allow me to know if I achieve my goals. The second way is my MST will record

my relationship with children and give me feedback of my improving comparing from day 1 to the

last day in TP.

Conclusion

Finally, I believe that all professional teacher should have his/her own PDP goals to

improve the way of teaching.
