DVT prophylaxis or blood thinner injection was not indicated in broken arm. It is strongly
recommended for patient with leg fracture or immobilized patient.
For long hour flight (more than 8 hours); if patient is able and willing to do ankle pumping exercise
during flight, it able to prevent DVT. But if not, another option is blood thinner injection.
Please inform us about how long is your flight duration. If it less than 8 hours; blood thinner is not
indicated. If it is longer, you can choose either want to ankle pumping exercise during flight, or got the
blood thinner injection. Blood thinner injection can be given 4 hours prior flight.
