Reflection on week 1

During my teaching practice, Ive noticed and observed behaviours that are absolutely
unacceptable which as, hitting each other, arguing with the teacher and playing with their peers
in the carpet time. I think these behaviours come from the teacher, because, the Arabic teacher
usually tell the students that she will hit them with the stick. That made them became violent
and shout all the time. That made me think a lot of this teaching practice and how the days
will pass, I was thinking also that this teaching practice will help me to discover new strategies
for classroom management and some questions come to my mind such as, how to manage
students behaviours and the ways to get them more interacted with me and with the teacher.
What worries me the most is how to respond to students how argue with me and how to be
stronger in managing and making my words count.

Reflection on week 2

In this week I taught the students /a/ sound, my strategy for letting the students identify
the sound is by saying the whole word and ask the students to say the first sound they hear.
Since its a new way in learning the sound, some they didnt identify the sound. As a result, I
asked students individual to say the sound. This strategy was successful, because, it helped me
to have a direct interaction with the students. On the other day, I taught the students about the
syllables, I think that letting them clap and say their names in parts was a good idea, as they
are identifying the concept by attaching it to something personal. I dont understand the
teachers who organize their classroom areas perfectly and dont send the students to them.
Teachers always say that areas are important in the learning process then why dont they send
them there. Also, this week students learned /a/ sound, in writing, the teacher showed them a
flashcard for letter /a/ and when she taught them how to write the letter she taught them in the
other form. I think that created a conflict for the students even when she did assessment for
them she had the first form for the letter so the students had hard time writing it correctly.

Reflection on week 3

This week, Ive noticed behaviours that are unacceptable where students dont listen to
the teachers instructions at all. They dont listen to the teacher when she teach them in the
carpet. I think these behaviours came because, its either the students are spoiled at home or
they are hurt by others. Because, the way they deal with each other is terrible. In this week, the
teachers were observed by the MOE and the principal. I liked how they were helping each other
and I wished they model these good behaviours in front of the students so they friendly more
with their peers and others.

Reflection on week 4

This week, Ive introduced a new letter sound for students which is /p/ sound. The
structure of the lesson was doing the usual routine, sounds revision and displaying a
PowerPoint to make students recognize /p/ sounds and words, then making the students work
in groups. In this lesson, I think that I had one weakness which is time management. The
lesson was smooth and easy to follow. The time that I had for the circle was good, however, I
think that on the activities students were taking extra time and minutes to finish their work.
That affect my lesson as well because, I wasnt able to do a lesson summary.

However, I had strengths in the lesson. The lesson structure was easy and well planned, using
the PowerPoint to display the puzzle and giving hints to students was a good strategy. I
honestly, didnt think that students while understand and answer correctly and it was
surprising for me. Then, Ive make the students say the sound and the action. The activities
that I had for the students were fun and useful. Students were integrate with the activities, I
think one of strength that I had is when the students were working on the table some of the
low-level students took extra time and that made me give them extra attention so they learn
better.

In one of the English teacher class, she had a game for the students to teach them more about
blending sounds, she used plastic letters to give the concept. However, the students were
misbehaving and they didnt listen to the teacher. As a result, the Arabic teacher interpreted
the lesson and she moved the students pictures down from the rewarding system that she had.
Still the students were misbehaving as a result, the teacher punished them by not letting them
go to the playground. I think due to students misbehaviours the teachers need to apply
punishment rather than just threating the students. Because, she allowed them to go to the
playground after what they did.

Reflection on week 5

In week 5, the students had a new unit which is Growing in my Garden. The students
learned /i/ sound, the students level of misbehaviours decreased so there were a lot of positive
feedback happening in both classes. I really dont understand the reason for that, they were
involve with the teachers and they did well in the areas they arrange the areas perfectly when
they finished from playing. These good behaviours were only in the school, yet when they went
for trips outside they went crazy they didnt listen to their teachers. I think that happened,
because they went also with KG1 classes and its a big group so that lead them to these
behaviours.

Reflection on week 6

This week was full of important things that I would like to say. The first thing, is when my
MCT come the students were misbehaving again. My MCT told me that I need to take a direct
action about the behaviours that I dont like and I dont want to see it again happening. That
made me think of making my word count and that what happened the next day I was saying to
the students and reacting to the behaviours that I hate perfectly. The day after, the principal
was making changes in one of the classroom without telling the teacher, I think this is
disrespectful, because she didnt tell the teacher and even when the teacher come in she didnt
tell her. On Tuesday, the Arabic teacher wasnt in the classroom when I was teach and when I
sent the students to the areas they played with the paint. The teacher come in shouting and she
got anger with me. This is not my fault because, she should be with me when I was teaching
not going to print something.

Reflection on week 7

There is something in me that I dont understand, which is a get attach to students more
in the last week of TP. This always happens in every teaching practice. In this week the students
went to trips and they showed good behaviours. Also, in classrooms they were involve in the
new sound which is /m/ sound. I think they did well because the sound is easy and the words
for this sound are easy and most of the students know the words.
