The family always helps the elderly in activities and daily needs so that
the family is in every elderly activity that can not be done alone. In this case the
family plays an important role in the care of the elderly because the family can
help the elderly to do bathing, eating and drinking toeliting which can not be done
alone and need family assistance.
The research uses analytical correlational method which aims to reveal
correlative relationship between variables. sample in this study 36 respondents
by using total sampling then done by filling the observation sheet and
questionnaire sheet in that failled by respondent. Then the data is analized by
using SPSS 15 for windows starting with Sperman Rank test.
The result of the research shows that the role of the family with the good
category is 19 respondents (52,8%), while the small part in the family roles with
enough category is 8 respondents (22,2%). The result of statistic test is = 0,024
with significant level = 0,05 ( ) hence it is proved that H0 is rejected and H1
accepted, which means there is relation of family role with elderly self care ability
in dimensia (Study in RT 02 RW 02 KP Taman banyuglugur Situbondo regency).
Expected in the future can be used as one source of data for further
research based on other factors such as different variables, the number of
samples more, different places more precise design and keep in touch with
nursing.
