Network Configuration:
Students must configure their laptop network interface as below(Maybe we have DHCP
setup?):
StudentX: y.y.y.X/255.255.255.0

2.1 Connecting to your Lab instance

To connect to your lab instance, use a microsoft terminal services (RDP) client to connect to
your student workstation.

Once connected, install HTTPWatch, Firebug, Chrome Developer tab.

2.2 Running HTTPWatch against a server

Open Web performance testing tool and run against the server.

1. Open IE
2. Start HTTPWatch
3. Go to http://test-site/
4. Stop HTTPWatch and open results
5. Discuss results with peers

2.3 Checking Results

3 Module II

3.1 Creating F5 Virtual w/Basic acceleration

Once connected, in your browser, connect to your virtual BIG-IP instance.

Create a virtual server, pool, profiles.

1. Create a pool.
- Click under LTM, pool. Click create.
- Name pool pool1
- Choose gateway_icmp monitor
- Enter pool member y.y.y.1X
- Enter port 80
- Click Add
- Click Finished

2. Create TCP profile
- Click to profiles
- Create TCP profile named aam-lab-serverside using (?) lan-optimized
- Create TCP profile named aam-lab-clientside using (?) wan-optimized
- Change settings X, Y, Z to (Anything we need to modify?)

3. Create Virtual
- Use destination of y.y.y.2X:80
- Apply server side & client side profiles & pool
- Click Finished

3.2 Running HTTPWatch against VIP

Run HTTPWatch again against y.y.y2X:80

Create Web Application profile using fundamental policy. Apply to Virtual Server.

1. Go to http://fast.f5.com/

2. Enter your own websites information
