ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
Competency 2 - Due to my developing skill at creating concise and appropriately emphasized speech patterns.
Competency 4 - Due to my continued interpretation and reference to the POL alongside teamwork-based class activities in order
to develop social practices alongside academic knowledge.
Competency 6 - Due to my democratic implementation of logical consequences.
Competency 7 - Due to my addressing of diverse learning styles and developing techniques for teaching to a class of individuals.
Competency 8 - Due to my integration of learning and content access onto a web-based software.
Competency 9 - Due to my clear communication to parents and guardians in being proactive about student performance.
Competency 11 - Due to my constant self-reflection and implementation of the expert recommendations of my cooperating
teacher and field supervisor.
Competency 12 - Due to my attempts to create a just and safe classroom environment through the communication of rules and
continued effort to always do what is best for the students.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
Competency 1 - To have more experience with the material in order to work on being the best
inheritor and illuminator of knowledge for students.
Competency 5 - To know how to properly make a consistent and fair assessment of student
knowledge in order to best aid in future understanding.
Competency 10 - To start to have more tangible experience and knowledge to communicate to the
contribute to the teaching team at my school.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:


Competency 1 - I will look through the POL of the assignment of my next stage thoroughly in order
to prepare general unit plans for the classes. I will use backwards design in order to ensure a
consistent goal-oriented set of lessons that have students learning what they need to succeed at
the required tasks they have before them.
Competency 5 - I will take the class on evaluation at McGill and will work closely with my next
cooperating teacher in order to best understand how to tailor evaluation to specific learners.
Competency 10 - I will continue to reflect on my experiences and gauge my understanding in order
to become a more well-rounded educator with ideas to contribute to a teaching team.
