The problems that arise in regulating the speed of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motor is stability of
power supply when on and off control in the voltage source inverter. The stability indicator of the
electrical energy supply can be known by the small distortion, This can be seen from the perfect
sinusoidal waveform which no distortion occurs from Direct Current (DC) source voltage to Alternating
Current (AC) source. The purpose of this study is to reduce the value of harmonic distortion that occurs
when there is a change of DC signal to AC. The method used in this research is through simulation on-off
control on voltage source inverter to adjust the optimized BLDC motor speed with particle swarm
optimization (PSO) algorithm. The PSO algorithm is an optimization method based on the social behavior
of living beings who have movement with the aim of finding the best personal value (pbest) based on
their position and the best value of the group (gbest) among the personal best value beforehand. The
results show that PSO algorithm optimization can reduce the total harmonic distortion value of by 25%
compared to before optimized.
