Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) established by an Act of Parliament

in 1985 offers more than 330 academic programmes. IGNOU serves the educational

In this age of life-long learning, a paradigm shift is taking place in the Indian
education system. There is a growing demand for recognized, quality educational
programmes which would allow young aspirants to acquire newer abilities. To
address this need IGNOU has recently set up a new Centre for Corporate Education,
Training and Consultancy. The objective of the centre is to develop programmes in
corporate education consistent with the requirements of the corporate
sector/industry. The programmes taken up by the centre will focus on capacity
building of human resources for the corporate sector. It intends to produce highly
employable graduates of the highest possible quality by forging linkages with
business and industry.

Content is developed by a panel of experts drawn from premier education institutes

and experienced practitioners from the industry. Continuous evaluation system
spanning throughout the course with defined parameters assesses the learning
capability and potential of the students and ensures that only deserving students

About PNVF
This course has been conceived and created by P.N. Vijay and Shyam Vijay the
Promoters of P.N. Vijay Financial Services P Ltd. Promoted in May 1990 in New
Delhi, PNVF is a SEBI-registered Portfolio Management company. It has also been
offering corporate finance advisory services like M&A, loan syndication, capital
structuring, issue management. Its main focus is now on specialized wealth

P N Vijay has had a distinguished career in the financial sector for over 38 years.
Starting his career with State Bank of India, he later moved to ANZ Grindlays and
rose to the position of All India Head of International Finance. Later he moved to
Citibank to serve as Vice President and Country Head of Merchant Banking. Mr. Vijay
is a well-known columnist and TV personality whose views on markets and the
economy are keenly followed the world over. He is also on various government
committees and Company Boards

Another Executive Director of the company is Shyam Vijay, who is an

alumnus of Harvard University and London City Business School.

The third Director of the company is Shiromani Vijay. After obtaining Post
Graduate qualification from IIT Madras she had a distinguished career in
Information Technology. Before taking over as head of IT in PNVF, she was a
senior executive with Fidelity Investments in India.

Vijay and offered in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University
(IGNOU). It is a six month distance learning and online programme, which enables
one to learn the principles of investing in the stock market and its functioning, from
the convenience of ones home and at a flexible pace.

CpSM covers the vital topics in Stock Markets including security valuation, portfolio
management, stock market mechanisms and functioning, regulations and taxation.
CpSM first starts with a thorough grounding required to understand balance sheets
and corporate finance principles like share valuation. The course then offers a
practical perspective of the structure and functioning of the Indian Capital Market
with detailed sections on IPOs, Book Building, Broking Settlements, DPs etc. This is
followed by an insight into modern Portfolio Management theory which covers
CAPM, Technical Analysis and Fundamental Analysis. The course, then moves on to
applied topics like Derivatives and Mutual Funds. In Derivatives, the course gives an
excellent theoretical background followed by applications in Indian stock market
and also, the regulatory framework. Mutual funds are treated separately in a
module and this includes structure of Mutual funds and their classification, offer
documents, distribution and Sales practices. Advanced areas like valuation, taxation
and managing a portfolio of funds are also dealt with.
