III. PROVIDE MULTIPLE MEANS FOR ENGAGEMENT:
1. Provide options for self-regulation
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
1 The Calm Down Corner will help the students learn how to self-regulate their own maladaptive behaviors.
The wobbly chairs allow students to remain engaged in the lesson because of the sensory stimulation they are getting by the movement
12 of the chair. The students will be allowed to choose when they want to sit in the wobbly chair and when they want to sit in a regular chair
depending on how they are feeling.
2. Provide options for sustaining effort and persistence
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
The table groups and small group table work to foster collaboration and communication by allowing students access to each other and the
2 and 4
ability to work together to complete a task.
On this wall there will be a visual schedule posted for the day. This will allow students to be aware of what is coming next in order to
6
prepare themselves.
On these shelves will be the materials and resources that the students may need throughout the school day. They will have constant
14
access to these shelves and materials. This allows the teacher to vary the demands and resources needed.
In these seats there is storage. This storage can be used for whatever is needed during small group work. It can be used to store
15
workbooks that the teacher will use to monitor student progress and provide the students with feedback.
3. Provide options for recruiting interest
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
The student can go to the Calm Down Corner voluntarily or may be asked if the teacher notices the student is overwhelmed. This allows
1
the students to make their own choice to isolate themselves if they need a break (optimizing individual choice and autonomy).
The corner also is also enclosed by dividers and has noise canceling headphones so a student can go there if they are overstimulated
10
(minimize threats and distractions). The corner can also work for the opposite situation, if a student is in need of sensory stimulation.
In the library, there will be books that align with students interests for independent reading times. This will motivate the students to rea
because there is material that is interesting and relevant to them (optimizing relevance, value and authenticity).

I. PROVIDE MULTIPLE MEANS OF REPRESENTATION:

4. Provide options for comprehension
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
On this wall there will be anchor charts from previous language arts lessons that students will be able to refer to when completing
7
assignments. This allows the students to activate their background knowledge and use it to help complete their work.
5. Provide options for language, mathematical expressions, and symbols
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
On this wall there will also be a word wall for vocabulary words for the current unit. This allows students constant access to the vocabulary
7
words, their spelling and definitions.
13 On this wall there will be a mathematical vocabulary wall that defines and explains what mathematical symbols and words means.
6. Provide options for perception
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
The computers allow students to access both visual and auditory information. They also give students the ability to customize how the
3
pages are displayed (the size of the text, brightness of screen, etc.)
5 The Smart Board can provide information through different modalities and formats.
II. PROVIDE MULTIPLE MEANS FOR ACTION AND EXPRESSION:
7. Provide options for executive functions
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.

8. Provide options for expression and communication

The students will be able to use the computers to complete assignments and presentations. On the computers, they will have access to
3 different softwares that they can use to show what they know. For example, they can type their answers, use a speech-to-text software,
create a power point, record a voice response, etc.
9. Provide options for physical action
Number Discuss how the option/example aligns with the guideline.
By providing adaptive mice, keyboard, scanning and switch technologies to the computers, all types of students will be able to navigate
3
and interact with the assignments.
